A Chase For Werewolves

Jullian nudges me. My nose bumps against his, he sits down and begins to howl. I begin to jump and howl with him. We both stop at the same moment. He stands up and leaps towards my tail. I move and make a run for the woods, he follows. I roll down into a pile of leaves, he just keeps on running. When I stop he stops, my ears go up and I look at him sideways, his ears go up and he looks at me sideways. We both take a playful stance and again we are running! We run through a river, we play and swim for at least an hour, we run through mud and leaves, we run through and endless forest of fun and adventure! We stop every now and then to howl at the moon. When we are howling it seems like the whole world doesn't exist! Then, we both stop. Laughter can be heard just a little ways away. It's some campers. Jullian doesn't care and howls again, I know better. I know who those people are. I bump into him and he stops, just as Annie says,"shhh... oh shut up would ya?!" Leon says back,"sorry An." Then a flashlight peaks out of the tent. It flashes our direction but we have both ran. I lead the way. Annie apparently saw us, because she's on our track. Leon gasps and says,"Annie! Look!" His flashlight falls right on our paw prints! Annie claps her hands and says,"we've got ya!" Jullian and I begin to run as fast as we can, with Leon and Annie not far behind. I always imagined the 4 of us running through the woods, but never like this! We run all the way back to the river. We sit for a minute before we hear them again. Jullian runs left and I run right. We will meet back in a few seconds atop a hill that's above the river. This is the same creek that Jullian and I stood in a few weeks ago. Now Leon and Annie stand there, wondering what happened to their werewolves. "Damn," Leon says. Annie has her hands on her knees and is breathing heavily. Jullian and I now watch them, we are sitting next to each other on top of the hill. They look around and after a minutes or two the decide they've lost us. Annie laughs and says,"well that was fun!" Leon laughs too. Annie stands up right and runs her fingers through her hair, she is thinking hard about something. She looks at Leon, who has recovered from their 2 am run. She takes her fingers out of her hair and moves them awkwardly in front of her. She looks to the ground and begins to speak,"so... Aysel and I have been talking..." she begins to blush,"and... uhhhmm... she told me I should do this." Without hesitation, without another thought in her mind, she awkwardly kisses him, a quick kiss on the lips. She pulls back, her face looks like a tomato. Leon stands there, eyes wide, mouth agape. They stay frozen for a minute and Leon speaks,"what the hell was that?!" Annie begins to say something but is cut off by Leon's lips. His arms wrapped around her as if they were hugging. She moves her arms around him and they kiss again, gently but just as awkward as the first. I look at Jullian and together we howl at the moon. They two lovebirds break apart and resume their chase for werewolves. We run with them until sunrise. When the moon fades so does our wolf bodies, but now we can become wolves without the moonlight. Only first takeovers need moonlight. We run back to the house laughing, the whole night felt like a dream! I check my phone and I see I have like 50 missed calls from Annie, no doubt wanting to talk about her romantic evening! I call her back, I muster up the best sick voice I could create,"hello?" "AYSEL!!! I'VE BEEN DYING TO TALK TO YOU!!!!" She screams into the phone! I giggle and say,"woah what happened! Did you catch a werewolf?" She doesn't answer my question,"can I come down to your place?" I should have been more smooth,"my parents are out of town on a business trip, so they left me at Jullian's house. I will be here all weekend." She says,"but I thought he had things to do this weekend." I say awkwardly,"yea me! Erm... well I mean he didn't... ugh that sounded wrong... he wasn't gonna... ugh... no... he was just taking care of me this weekend." Annie laughs and says,"oh okay... still doesn't make sense but I will ask when your feeling better. In that case can I come down to Jullian's house? I really need to speak with you in person." Jullian, who is listening in on the conversation, nods that sure she can come. "Alright," I say back. She hangs up the phone there and then. Jullian and I try to make it look like I am sick and that he has been taking care of me all night. Just as we finish making a mess, the doorbell rings. Jullian opens the door and Annie bursts through and around the couch. She starts with confession,"I KISSED LEON IN THE WOODS LAST NIGHT!" I thought about what I would say when she told me,"YOU DID WHAT?!" Jullian closes the door, jumps over the couch and sits at the end. I put my feet on his lap and we listen to Annie,"and then... he kinda... kissed me..." Jullian yelled,"HE DID WHAT?!" Mocking me Jullian is the first to laugh, then Annie, then me. Annie told us the whole story, even though we saw it for our selves, from her perspective it seems so different! Eventually there is another ring at the door, Annie goes to answer it. It's Leon!! Jullian and I look away to leave them some alone time. Annie is looking at us wishing we would come back her up. Jullian understand that we need a diversion so he begins to tickle the bottom of my feet. That gets the point across and the two of them go for a little stroll.
