"Lower your weapon!" Sebastian aimed his gun at his father. Hasley's eyes remained on James.

Then suddenly, the maniac rounded on his son.

He took the shot.

"No!" James reacted on impulse. He shoved Sebastian out of the way as Talia and Natasha fired at Hasley.

James fell to the ground, eyesight spotty and body aching.

"JAMES!" Sebastian was suddenly there, blurry and hard to see, but there nonetheless. "Jamie, stay with me! Don't close your eyes, come on, stay with me! Stay with me!"

James' world went dark.

-

Sebastian didn't leave the hospital, not once. He needed to know James was okay.

"Seb. It's been two days," Natasha said in the softest tone most of them had ever heard. Sebastian glared at her. "We're all worried about him."

"I'm not going anywhere," Sebastian snapped.

"You have to face the fact that--"

"Don't." Sebastian's voice wavered. "He'll be fine. He has to be fine."

After the surgery, James had fallen into a coma. The combined injuries from the pervious case, torture, and strain, the doctor told them. He might never wake up.

But Sebastian refused to believe that. James was strong, stronger than any of them. He knew James would pull through.

Talia and Connor had gone home. They had their own families to take care of. Natasha had stayed with Sebastian so far, but even she was losing hope.

"He's awake," Dr. Goodman's voice suddenly said. "You can see him now. But--"

Sebastian didn't hear what else the doctor had to say. He was already gone, full-on sprinting to James' room.

When Sebastian got to the doorway, James was sitting up in bed, eyes blinking. His arms were littered with the scars Sebastian had grown to love, plus new ones James would wear with pride. His shoulder was wrapped in fresh bandages, and Sebastian had to fight back the memory of watching that bullet tear through James' body.

"Hey, Baz." James offered a small smile. Sebastian surged forward grabbing either side of his boyfriend's face and kissed him like there was no tomorrow. James kissed back, tangling his fingers in Sebastian's brown hair.

"Seb--I knew it!" Natasha exclaimed behind them, and the pair broke apart. "Now Talia and Connor owe me ten bucks each!"

"You bet on us, NB?" James asked incredulously.

"I know when Sebby here is in love." Natasha punched the brunet lightly in the shoulder. He rolled his eyes.

"Ignore her, Jamie. Kiss me again?"

"Yes, please." Jamie grabbed Baz by his tie and pulled him back in for another kiss.
