Rising before the Queen in the morning was a habit ingrained in Alaena. She always woke earlier then Cersei to ensure that everything was perfect and ready for when she woke her.
As head Lady in Waiting Alaena is in control of all Cersei's other ladies, handmaidens, guards, pages and grooms. She had to oversee the running of the household and make sure everything flowed smoothly. If something somehow goes wrong Alaena has to resolve it swiftly and justly.
They had been in Winterfell for several days by now and Alaena was slowly getting used to the cold greyness of the North. Despite this she eagerly awaited their return to the warm, sunny South.
The children however had enjoyed their time here and Alaena was considering a betrothal between little Georgiana and one of the young Stark boys.
°°°
After waving off Tytos and the other men with Georgiana; Alaena walked around the courtyard with her daughter.
Everything amused and intrigued the little girl. Their new setting fueled her childish inquisitiveness and she babbled about every thing she saw to her doting mother.
Embracing the serenity of the moment Alaena allowed herself to relax and enjoy spending time with her darling daughter. It was nice to be with her daughter away from the snake pit that it is the capital. The south may be her home but the atmosphere in the red keep was toxic and backstabbing was rife.
°°°
However, the peace would not last. The middle Stark boy, Bran, had fallen from a high tower and was unconscious. Apparently he climbed regularly and had never fallen before.
Alaena had an alarming realisation, and after leaving Georgiana with her nursemaid, she stormed off to find the Lannister twins.
They were not in Cersei's chambers so Alaena sat herself down and waited, seething in quiet anger, for the arrival.

°°°
Cersei and Jaime walked back to her chambers filled with mirth. Despite the horrible crimes they had just committed they couldn't bring themselves to feel any guilt.
Cersei laughed aloud as she bushed open the heavy door to her bedchamber.
Immediately her eyes fell upon Alaena who was sitting there silently; she looked at Cersei and Jaime with a cold, unreadable face. Cersei's laugh froze in her throat and she harshly swallowed it down. Glancing up at Jaime she noted that he too had frozen and in place and could feel guilt pooling in his gut.
"Shut the door."
Cersei shivered at how emotionless and empty Alaena's voice was. Jaime and her, they, had achieved the best impossible. They had incurred Alaena's wrath and they trembled at the thought.
They watched in fear as Alaena stood. Her slow speed tortured them as they awaited her scathing words.
"How stupid can you be?"
Jaime swallowed nervously behind her: "We are sorry."
Alaena laughed harshly, the sounding grating on Cersei's ears.
"Well it's too late now. You may just have sent us all to our deaths with your carelessness." Her voice became more shrill. "I told you not to do anything here, amongst wolves, where one wrong move could end us all. I warned you. But did you listen? No. Of course you didn't. You do the complete opposite of what I say and decide to have a quick fuck in a tower; where anyone could find you. And when someone, a child, does find you. What do you do? You shove an innocent child out the window to try and kill them."
Cersei stared in shock, with tears pooling in the corners of her eyes, as Alaena swept out of the room. Jaime went to follow her but Cersei stops him. Alaena would want to be alone Cersei knew.
