Lila laid flat on her bed, groaning under her breath as she read the question that she was supposed to somehow write an entire page on.
She sighed, giving up on being productive and shut the notebook, stuffing it in her backpack. As she lifted her backpack to put it by the door, she heard the front door open and shut. She ignored it, thinking that her mom had just returned from the grocery store.
She hummed under her breath as she walked into the bathroom, relieving herself and washing her hands before exiting back into her room.
When she walked closer to the bed, she noticed a fancy sheet of ivory paper folded in half sitting in the center of her bed. Sitting on the corner of it, was a white chocolate and milk chocolate Hershey's kiss.
As she neared the paper, she started to make out her name embossed in a smooth gold color on the front of the paper. She immediately knew it was from Muffin Man. Was he here?
She picked up the note after popping the Hershey's kiss into her mouth.
Do you have a band-aid? Because I scraped my knee falling for you.
Lila laughed at the cheesy pickup line, and folded the note shut. Just as she picked up the phone to call Cal, the doorbell rang, and her mom shouted upstairs at her.
"Lila, can you get that? I've got my hands full." She yelled.
"I got it, Mom!" She shouted back. Whoever was at the door would have to ignore her state of dress since she had been laying in her room. Hopefully her oversized shirt and shorts weren't too revealing.
She pulled open the door and came face to face with a pink cheeked Cal. He was dressed in a black suit with a white button up underneath with a black tie tucked underneath his collar. He held a bouquet of red roses, and he immediately smiled once his eyes laid on the girl that he loved.
He felt the urge to kiss her right there, but he refrained, knowing that it wasn't part of the plan that he had strictly written out.
"Lila Harley." Cal started, clearing his throat shortly after. "These are for you." He said, holding out the bouquet of roses. Lila took it with a large smile.
"What're these for?" Lila asked, smelling them, only to have her grin widen at the sweet smell.
"They're a gift to try to convince you to go out with me. Right now." Cal said.
Lila's eyes widened. "Really? Right now?"
"Yep."
