Standing there was Luca in his pajamas and bare feet. He looked like he was sweating and he was breathing kind of hard. This suddenly looks like those romance movies. Next thing you know, he’ll be picking me up and spinning me around while he kisses me and then flash forward ten years, and I have ten kids and a loving husband. Yeah, right.
“What are you doing here?” I asked Luca as I led him inside from the cold. He looked confused and dazed as he walked.
“I don’t know” he said as he sat down on the couch. “I woke up and had a bad feeling and the next thing I knew, I was in front of your door.” I checked his temperature and made sure he didn’t have a fever and grabbed a blanket from the bedroom while laying it on top of him. I helped him up as I pushed him towards the bedroom and I smiled at the innuendos someone could come up with at that. I laid him down on the bed and made sure he was O.K. before I tried leaving the room. Key word: tried. I felt a hand grip my wrist as I was suddenly yanked back and thrown on the bed. I felt Luca wrap his arms around my waist as I felt his hot breath on my ears. Queue the shivers. “Stay, please.” I heard him whisper before he fell asleep. I humored the big teddy bear by staying, not like I could get him to let go. I was a reaper, not superman. I did have more strength than most full grown men but I wouldn’t like to use that against the big teddy bear that thinks it’s nice to hug people to death. Not that I could die. I’m probably confusing you, aren’t I? I should just stop talking and go to sleep, I haven’t slept in a while but I don’t really need to, I just do it because I get to dream. Ah, dreams, the only place I can eat like a pig without wasting suspicious amounts of money and make out with Paul Walker.

“You know for death, you sure act normal… well, normal in a sense that you’re an abnormal human.” Luca said as we drove to school. It had been a week since he came to my house and I had been to school for a week. To say I was glad to be in school would be a lie. It’s still the same hell hole I remember, but the upside was that I got to spend time with Luca. He was such a big softy. When his dog had puppies, he gave me one since they couldn’t afford to take care of all of them and now I have an absolutely gorgeous puppy that was so soft and cute and now my cat Cookie has a friend, they actually get along despite the belief that dogs hate cats and vise versa. Since his dog gave birth about a month ago, he was already house trained and he was such a big softy, so I named him Little Luca. Big Luca didn’t like that.
“What, you expect me to sacrifice animals in the forest every full moon and run naked screaming ‘I am one with nature!’?” I said as I pulled into the student parking lot.
As we got out the car Luca answered “no, I just expect you to be gloomier and point a gnarled finger at random people and say in a creepy voice ‘you are doomed to die’, or something like that.” I laughed as we walked to the main entrance and Luca took my hand in his. I moved closer to him as kids pushed each other in the crowded halls. I really wasn’t in the mood to get trampled. I was in black shorts again and I had a black t-shirt that said ‘if you can read this, then you’re in my way’ in the shape of those doctor tests where the letters get smaller as you go down. We walked until we were stopped by Lisa.
“Hello, Luca.” she said as she twirled her hair with a finger and smacked her gum.
“Good bye Lisa.” Luca responded as he side stepped her. And that my friends concludes today’s episode of ‘How to Get Rid of the Annoying Chick, Who Won’t Take No for an Answer’. Lisa’s face flashed in anger before it went back to the emotionless mask she always wears. She stalked away with an annoyed look on her face. I walked to homeroom with Luca at my side and we greeted Mr. Brown with a smile and took our seats in the back of the class. As the bell rang, Jackson Harper walked in with his arm around Lisa. As you can probably guess, Jackson is the schools quarter back and Lisa is captain of the cheerleading squad. Everyone thought of them as the golden couple and Jackson was a golden boy to the school. I nearly laughed when I discovered this because it seemed like these two walked right out of a teen fiction book. I knew that there was such a thing as people like them but I never thought they would be so unoriginal. I mean Jackson has fan girls falling over him and Lisa is sleeping with just about everyone behind his back. One of these days that boy will realize his life is not as good as it seems.
