"Sarah?"

I bolted upwards. What time was it? Where was I? I shot over to my alarm clock to see what time it was. I was late for school!

"Coming!"

I threw on some clothes I had laid out the previous night, brushed my teeth, and my hair. After a little mascara, I sprinted down the hallway. My mom had a plate of a single bacon strip and a piece of toast on the table.

Gee. Thanks.

I scarfed it down, and grabbed my back pack.

I yelled to my Mom as I threw open the front door. Once I was on my bike, I began to dart down the street. I took a look at my watch and realized I had 5 minutes, and I was 10 minutes away.

Perfect.

All hell broke loose as I curved into the street with busy cars. A chorus of loud honks trailed behind me as I made my way closer to the school.

2 minutes.

I ran into the school and found my locker. I looked at the scrunched up paper in my hand, and tried to make out the locker combination. After my 5th try, my lucky streak broke. The bell rang, and soon the halls became silent.

I groaned and slammed my fist onto the locker. I slid down the lockers until finally I was sitting in the hallway. Tears came to my eyes, and soon started to flow out of me like crazy. I rubbed my sore eyes with my sweater sleeve and listened closely to the silent halls. I could hear something coming closer. I began to make out the sound of squeaky sneakers, and shot upwards. Was it a teacher? I was busted. I began to pretend I was trying to open my locker as the figure came around the corner.

"Hey! Piano girl!"
The figure yelled to me. I bolted around and saw a familiar face from yesterday.

"O-oh. Hey Richie."
I smiled meekly at him as I calmed down.

"What's the matter?"
He said worriedly as he noticed my red eyes and wet sleeves.

"Oh, nothing. Just, my locker won't open."
He scoffed and hit the locker harshly with his foot.

Suddenly, it swung wildly open. I laughed softly as I looked back up at him. He looked content with himself.

"Thanks Richie."
I said happily as I pulled him into a hug. At first, he was surprised, but quickly hugged back.

After about 10 seconds, another voice was heard from around the hall.

"Ha! Look at that! Tozier' s got a girlfriend!"
We both spun around to see a mean looking boy with spiky hair. I looked at him, confused as he looked at the ground with red cheeks.

"Hey! What's your problem man?"
I asked angrily at him.

I began to walk towards him, but Richie grabbed my arm, pulling me back.

"Tozier! Let the girl speak! I haven't beaten up a girl before. Oh wait, I forgot about Beverly!"
He said snarkily said as Richie's hands curled into fists.

"Leave her alone Henry!"
He yelled back at him.

I looked at Henry angrily as he became furious. He began to charge at me.
Richie quickly grabbed my hand and bolted down the hallway.

"RUN! Come on!"
He yelled as we both sprinted down the hallway together, hand in hand.
