* Prue's POV*

Kick. Punch. Kick. Every day is the same. The name calling and being bullied. They never ease up though, always striving to be the first to make me cry.

I don't know why they hate me.

I look up through blurry eyes, caused by unshed tears and see the cause of my pain. Ian Moore. He is next in line to be alpha.

Yes, I am a werewolf, although most in my pack refuse to see me as one just because I don't speak. I haven't uttered a word ever since I was 6 years old, ever since-

"Get up loser!" he yelled interrupting my thoughts. I flinched at the sheer power those three little words held. "Get up!"

I crawled over to the blue lockers that lined the hall and held on to them as I slowly stood up. Trying to steady myself I turned with my head down towards him. After what seemed like hours but only minutes of silence I looked up at him through my eyelashes. Big mistake. Not seconds after my eyes met his I was slapped with the back of his rough hands.

"Did I say to look at me?"

"Filthy disgrace of a wolf." I heard someone say. Obviously referring to me.

I fell to the ground yet again with the taste of blood in my mouth. A kick is delivered to my side and I hear a crack. I have no doubt my rib is broken. Another kick is delivered causing me to whimper. The pain is too much to bear and eventually blackness starts to cloud my vision. I hear the crowd disperse and I feel myself being lifted from the ground.

"It's going to be okay Prue. You're safe now, I promise." These comforting words are the only thing I hear before I pass out completely and all I can think is how wrong they are.

I'm never going to be safe.

Mason's POV

I pace in my office agitated not being able to sit still. I could feel her pain, the only person I can't stand to be hurt.

My mate.

I've never seen her before but I caught her scent one night. I'll never be able to forget it because it was the night I turned my life around.

Not only for me, but for her.

*Flashback - Two Years ago*

Miranda - a she-wolf that let any male between her legs - came strutting in my office in a skirt that barely kept anything hidden with a shirt to match. My eyes ruthlessly raked her body as she walked around my desk.

I, being a 19 year old bachelor, didn't see anything wrong with my actions.

My dad on the other hand never agreed. He always used to chastise me saying that I should wait for my mate and that I would regret my actions when I met her, and I being the perfect son just covered it up and kept my affairs secret.

That was before he was killed. Now all of my affairs were public knowledge.

I pushed my chair away as she swung one leg over me and straddled my lap. I give her a devilish grin to which her cheeks heated up. I loved having all the girls in the pack fall to my every - and I mean every - wish and command. Of course it had to do with being alpha but it also had to do with my looks. I don't mean to sound egotistical but I have to be honest with myself in saying, I'm pretty hot.

I was well over six feet, with short brown hair and blue grey eyes.  I was also well built and didn't lack in the muscle department, props of being an alpha.

She leaned in starting to kiss me and when my tongue asked her lips for entrance she eagerly complied.

I heard a knock at my door and groaned. "What!" I said as I tore away from Miranda. She just continued kissing me down my jaw to my neck.

My beta Maxwell entered my office and his eyes quickly darted to Miranda then back to me.

"Alpha we found unfamiliar scent on our territory and its fresh." he said clearly uncomfortable with the situation he just walked in on.

"Rogue?"

"No, we believe it is one from a neighboring pack but I thought I should address you to seek your opinion on what to do." Maxwell informed me.

'Go see! Go see!' My wolf chided.

I found this behavior unusual at the time but brushed it off as my wolf wanting some action. "I will come address the situation myself"

"But baby..." Miranda whined. "Why don't you let them take care of it." I ignored her and pushed her off of me - my interest in her now completely gone - before following Maxwell out of my office.

Once we were out of the pack house and into the woods we undressed and I shifted into my midnight black wolf. All werewolves were a solid color until they found their mate. Only then would part of their fur change to match the color of their mate's fur. Maxwell's wolf was a solid rusty brown and I stood a couple inches taller than him.

I followed Maxwell through the woods to where the scent was the freshest. When we reached the supposed place I took a breath through my nose and the only scents I could smell were those of my packs warrior wolves. I became confused and started to speak through the packs mind link.

'I don't smell-' just then a breeze came by halting my words. The smell of Jasmine with a hint of cinnamon hit my nostrils sending my wolf into overdrive. It was the most amazing scent i had ever smelt. I was dazed for a moment only to come out of it with one word from my wolf, 'Mate'.

End flashback

I remember searching for her only to come up empty. I had no idea how she got away seeing as her scent told us she was clearly not in wolf form. But somehow she did.

I set up parties with neighboring packs in hopes of finding her but I always came up empty. It has been over a year now and since then I vowed to change my ways, and haven't-much to the dismay of all of the she-wolves in my pack- touched anyone since.

I thought that if I did then it would be like cheating on her, even though I haven't even met her. I knew my wolf would hate me for touching anyone other than our mate and I couldn't agree with him more. From the start he hated that I slept around. But his protests grew fewer and far between because it had been three years since my first change and we still hadn't found our mate.

All werewolves change on their 16th birthday and changing meant that you would finally be able to detect your mate. My wolf had given up, until that night. I can feel her pain though; she seems to be in pain often. I have come to the conclusion that she is mistreated. The thought enrages me and I feel my blue-grey eyes shift to yellow.

I need to find her. I'm going to find her.
