Chapter 9 - Rude Awakening (Part 2)
Atlas didn't say anything as he walked through the hallways back to his quarters. Greyson jogged slightly to catch up to his and Lorik's strides. Everyone else was probably already asleep this late in the night or were on the night shift and watching the stars fly by.
After a few quick turns, they finally made it to his quarters and quickly went in. Atlas shut the door after Lorik stepped through and both simultaneously turned to face Greyson.
Atlas moved forward, "Hey, kid, are you ok? You look a bit shook up."
Greyson did look a little pale, but that was probably still the shock from earlier that day. "I'm ok," he replied softly, rubbing his sleep crusted eyes.
"Greyson," Atlas began, "We need to know what happened out there."
"I don't know what happened," he sighed and leaned back against the table that sat in the centre of Atlas' room. The room went silent, Lorik and Atlas both waiting for the boy to crack and spill everything that he did know.
"What happened to Nyssa?" Greyson's small voice piped up. He'd been pretty silent about everything and every time Atlas had tried to get him to talk since the Hellfire attack. All his answers were short and they revealed nothing about the events that had occurred on deck that day.
"Who's Nyssa?" Lorik asked him.
Greyson just shook his head and stared down at his feet. Lorik let out a frustrated sigh and Atlas just rolled his eyes at his friend's dramatics. He knelt down to Greyson's height. "Grey, look at me." It took a few moments but Greyson reluctantly looked up from his feet and at Atlas.Softly, he asked, "Who is Nyssa?"
Greyson was silent for a moment, "My sister."
Atlas nodded, accepting the answer with some confusion, "Why did you call Aura 'Nyssa' on deck?"
Again Greyson paused before answering Atlas, "Because she turned into Nyssa."
"Ok...Do you know why that happened? Can you explain it to us?"
Greyson shook his head and Atlas knew that the boy was telling truth. "Alright, how about we ask Aura? Can you call her here?"
Greyson shut his eyes and almost instantly Aura appeared beside him, kneeling down at Greyson's height and flashing in swirls of red and blue. "What's wrong Greyson? I can feel you're hurt."
Greyson opened his eyes and looked to her, "I'm ok."
"Oh, then who's hurting?" Aura asked, rubbing her shoulder.
Atlas was a little shocked at Aura's appearance. Her rubbing her shoulder exactly where he was hit was just something that shocked him out of his shock and ask, "Are you supposed to be purple?"
Aura looked at herself and giggled, "Nope. Well, yes. Someone's hurting and I have all this pent up anger but I don't know what I'm supposed to attack because I don't know who's in pain."
"Is that why you...y'know...blew up earlier?" Atlas asked. He went to rub the back of his neck but a splinter of pain in his shoulder had him rushing to put his arm down in case Aura decided he was her next Hellfire.
Aura's brow scrunched slightly but it wasn't for long.
She looked at him before poking him in the shoulder. Atlas sucked in a breath as pain ricocheted across his shoulders and down his arm. Aura also managed to turn a darker shade of red before she stepped back. "You're hurt."
Atlas rolled his eyes, trying to stop the bead of sweat from rolling down his face and betraying how much pain he truly was in. "Well, no. Laser blasts don't hurt when the hit their target and burn right through the skin."
