Author's Note: Hey! Hope you all had an amazing Easter!

I knew I should have been excited for my date tonight with Anthony, but the only thing I could find myself thinking about lately was what the hell Anthony was doing sneaking around town, handing over conspicuous things to random dudes? Obviously it wasn’t drugs, Anthony wouldn’t be so stupid as too deal in broad daylight… So what was it?

I wish I could talk to someone about my thoughts, but still nobody knew about my relationship with Anthony, and I was going to keep it that was for as long as possible. It didn’t dismiss the fact that I needed advice, but I had no idea where to get it. I sat at the edge of the bed and placed my head in my hands. Why did this have to be so frustrating?!

I looked up at the clock and it read 5:00. I then heard my grandmother calling my name from downstairs. I picked myself up and looked in the mirror. I wiped away a stray tear and plastered a fake smile on my face, had to play it up for the cameras, right?

“Hey sweetie,” my grandmother greeted me. My grandfather was sitting at the dinner table, copious amounts of food was spread out over the table. Typical Saturday and Sunday night at the Woods house.

“Hey guys,” I smiled, taking my usual seat at the family table.

“So do you have any plans tonight?” My grandma asked as my granddad squeezed my hang. We got right into serving ourselves, we were never a family that prayed, although most nights I hear Grandma praying to herself before bed.

“Yeah, actually,” I said while placing some fried chicken and potatoes on my plate. I grabbed some salad as well, hoping it all evened out in the end.

“Is it with the same boy?” She pressed on; my granddad looked up from his plate.

“Wait, you’ve been seeing… A BOY!?” He emphasized the last word, as if the mere thought of me socializing with the opposite sex would result in the world ending.

“Yes, same boy,” I nodded, answering my grandmother’s question. “And yes… A boy. We’ve only been on one date, it’s nothing serious.”

“Alright,” he squinted his eyes at me. I gave him a tight smile before eating a mouthful of chicken. No matter how nervous I was, my hunger sure didn’t suffer.

“Where are you two going?” My grandma asked, placing more food on my plate.

“The aquarium,” I replied simply.

“Sounds interesting, and here I thought all you kids did was get high and party.”

“That’s only a majority of the time.”

“Chari!”

“Sorry!” I found myself laughing, and so were they. We sat in comfortable silence and finished up our meal before Grandma offered dessert.

“No thank you,” I said politely, placing my fork in the middle of my plate. “I should probably get ready.”

“Do you need a drive?” My grandfather asked me, my heart swelled.

“No thanks Grandpa,” I kissed his cheek before leaving the table. “He’ll be picking me up at 7.”

“And he will be dropping you off at 11, correct?” My grandmother clarified. I nodded and walked up to my room.

“She is turning into a fine young lady,” I heard my grandma say.

“She is, I just hope she’s careful,” I heard the gruff voice of my granddad reply.

“I know our Charity, and she’s nothing but careful. Let’s go out for some ice cream and give her some privacy.” God bless that woman!

“I’m in the mood for some of your pie,” I heard dishes clatter in the sink.
