Chapter 5
I finally located my car in the midst of other automobiles, I even noticed some sort of motorcycle parked around my car.
I quickly opened the back door and found Quinn crying, and Marceline holding her. It wasn’t a surprise that they were in the car; I had given them all a spare key, just in case something like this happened.
“What the fuck happened?” I asked softly. Quinn tried to speak, but all that came out was a strangled sob.
“Do you know what happened?” I directed my question to Marceline, she shook her head.
“Every time she tries to talk she either breaks out into another sob or throws up,” she had her hand on Quinn’s back. I ran around to the driver’s side of the car and put it in drive, turning on the radio.
“It,” I heard Quinn gasp, I almost snapped my neck when I faced her. “It was…”
“It’s okay,” Marceline said softly, stroking her back soothingly.
“We were, we were ready,” she sniffled and took a deep breath. She straightened her back a little.
“Take your time,” I looked around. “Where’s Skylar?”
“I don’t know, I texted her-“
“Hey!” Skylar burst into shot gun. “What’s the 911?”
“It’s Quinn,” I said carefully.
“Babe,” she saw the state Quinn was in. “You look wrecked, what happened?”
“Okay…” She closed her eyes and took a long, shaky breath. She took another breath, this time it was deep and steady. “Stephan and I had gotten up to his bedroom, he had these little rose petals laid down and had nice little candles lit. He was even playing that acoustic sleeping with sirens album I really like. I was really happy that he had made such a huge effort. So we were kissing and undressing… And then I heard some guy holler from the kitchen. And then I realized that I didn’t want to lose my virginity while I heard the chorus of Thrift Shop play whilst people were getting drunk in the same house. I wanted it to be more intimate… So I stopped Stephan and told him it wasn’t right. He got upset, and told me I was a tease… And then he called me a prude. A p-prude! And then he told me to leave the party and call him in the morning when he wasn’t so mad…” She sniffled and swallowed, as if holding back another sob.
“That’s… I don’t know…” Skylar shook her head. She didn’t know what to say, neither did I.
“He’s upset,” Marceline said calmly. “What he said wasn’t nice, it was downright unacceptable. But you need to give him time to cool off, and you need time to calm down as well. You did the right thing though, I would never had wanted to lose my virginity that way either.”
“I agree with Marceline,” Skylar replied. “You guys just need to calm down and look at everything after a good night’s sleep, sleepover at my house?”
“S-Sounds good,” Quinn nodded. “I don’t really want to explain why I’m crying too my mom.”
“I’ll text your mom,” I heard Marceline say as I put my car in drive. I could drive a little bit onto the front lawn and back up that way. I do just that and honk my horn as obnoxiously loud as possible, drunken frat boys passing around a rugby ball move quickly out of my way as I back up.
“You’re going to get your license taken away one of these days,” Quinn pointed out. I turned around and smiled at her. I was worried about her still, I knew how much she loved Stephan and how much he loved her. I hoped this little fight didn’t result in them breaking up, that would kill me. Their relationship was the one constant we had in our group of friends, and we couldn’t afford to lose that.
