Just the nice guy?

Chapter 5

(JAKE POV)

"So are you guys going anywhere" inquired Jen. I squirmed under her icy gaze. 

"Oh we were thinking of watching a movie" Once again my hand awkwardly scratched my neck. 

"wow sounds like fun, we should join you how does that sound?" Jen pulled a pout and tugged on Zac's arm "Please, please, pleeeaase"

"I don't see why not" Zac pulled his arm over Jen's shoulder and snuggled his head into her neck.

I looked over at Grace, her eyes still glued to the floor. I leaned over and whispered to her ear "What do you think? I'll distracted them if you want to run"

Her cheeks burned as she let out a small giggle. Suddenly all eyes were on her. Jen pursed her lips in a thin line.

"What do you say Grace? It's not like you guys are on a date or anything"

Grace slightly nodded before aiming her eyes at the ground once again.

"Let's go then" Jen linked her arm with mine and pulled me towards the strong smell of popcorn. As Jen was holding my hand a million thoughts swarmed in my head. I have had this moment planned out in my head for years so why isn't my heart beating faster? Why do I blush every time I look at Grace? WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME!!!!!! 

(GRACE POV)

I quickly grabbed a seat next to Jake so I could be as far away from Jen as possible. I smiled as I looked at Jake's face through the darkness of the cinema, only the white light from the screen illuminating on his face. A blush crept on my cheeks as I though of romantic gestures that took place in the dark. Subtle brushes of fingers as we reach for popcorn, the typical yawn and arm lift, indirect kisses from sipping the wrong drink, I giggled silently to myself, may face turning red from embarrassment  Suddenly a hand touched my cheek as i turned to see a worried expression plastered on Jake's face.

"Are you feeling ok?  you look kinda flushed do you want me to grab some water?"

"It's ok, It's just a bit warm in here" My cheeks burned from the contact

"Oh" He laughed nervously (Which sent my soul to heaven) "Just tell me if you're feeling sick, we could always watch the movie another time. I heard the reviews say it was less than two stars "

I nodded because no words could come out of my mouth. How did I end up going out to the the movies with perfection. I shuffled in my seat and watched the big screen as the movie began rolling

Half way through the film I noticed Jake yawning and lifting his arm. I slowly moved closer to him as his arm was lowering around my shoulder. Only inches away he quickly pulled back as whe heard the hushed shouts from Jen.

"Could you guys stop hogging the popcorn?" she whispered 

"You have one right next to you" Jake pointed  at the large bucket of popcorn seated on Zac's lap.

"Whoops you're right silly me" She smiled smugly

I laid back in my seat slightly frustrated at the interruption. I shivered feeling the cold air blowing on me from the air con, I rubbed my arms in attempt to get warm, goose bumps appearing on my skin.Jake looked at me before turning back to the screen, I pouted, looking disappointed as i continued to seek warmth. I felt  a jacket draped across my shoulders, looking up I saw Jake blushing softly as he wrapped me up in his warm jacket. I smiled gratefully and he quickly looked to the floor, avoiding my gaze. I smiled throughout the whole movie the jacket still holding the faint scent of him. 

As the ending credits rolled up, I quickly handed the jacket back to Jake.

"Thanks for the jacket, I'm sorry you must've been cold in there"

"No it's fine you keep it, it's probably colder outside anyways"

"No I insist"

"No really it's fine"

"Oh my god can you guys just shut up?" Zac said as he held his hand to his forehead.

We smiled to ourselves at Zac's sudden outburst.

"Zac and I are probably going back now, It's getting kinda late" Jen pulled Zac up and they both headed out of the cinema walking joined at the hip. 

I looked down at my watch, the numbers blinking at 7pm.

"So what should we do? I still have 2 hours to waste" Jake looked down at his phone before returning back to his pockets.

"Maybe we could get some food I know just the place" He dragged me by the hand as we walked out of the mall.

The cold wind nipped at my face as we walked through the streets of Hongdae. Delicious smells of street food wafted through my nose and made my mouth water. We struggled through push through the crowds with our hand still tightly entwined. I felt my heart beating out of my chest as we stood closely pressed up against each other in the crowd. We continued through the crowd until we arrived at a small photo booth.

He rubbed his neck nervously "Since we still have a lot of time I was wondering if you would want to take sticker photos first?"

"Sure lets go" He grabbed my hand once and lead me inside.

"After you m'lady"

I laughed as we both squeezed into the small booth. Putting on different wigs and pulling funny faces together, it just seemed so natural. What if he doesn't like me as much as I like him? I pushed these thoughts to the back of my head and focused on the moments that we had now. If time could stop I would stop it on this moment forever.
