The next day, Stiles tried his hardest to not act like a fool in front of Derek. It was hard since he literally sat next to him.

Derek didn't acknowledge him much that day, in fact he hadn't said anything in class. He seemed to be more quiet and reserved for someone who looked cool and popular.

Stiles kept stealing glances at Derek when the dark haired boy was writing something down, or completely invested in the lesson to even notice him. He couldn't help but notice little things about him, like how he rubbed his non-shaven stubble when he was thinking about a question or how he furrowed his perfect eyebrows when he was confused.

Stiles's shook his head and took a deep breath. It was only the second day and he was attracted to a guy who was way out of his league.

When the bell rung, Stiles quickly gathered his things and made his way into the hallway. Unfortunately the only other class Derek shared with him was Biology, which was all the way in third period.

After a couple boring classes it was lunchtime, and Stiles sat with Allison again. But before he could bite into his sand which, Allison's red-headed friend appeared at their table. She placed her hands flatly on top of it, showing off her perfectly manicured and painted pink nails.

"Allison hey! Oh and her little cousin, what's his name?" she perkily greeted Allison and Stiles. Stiles scowled. He wasn't that short. "It's Stiles."

"Stiles? Peculiar name. Anyways, you guys are coming to sit with us." Lydia said, not really in an asking manner, nodding off into the direction of her table.

Stiles looked over to the table far behind her. His eyes widened. Most of the boys he recognized from the lacrosse team, and we're chatting and laughing to each other. There were some girls laughing along with the boys and to each other. He gulped. He wouldn't survive a day at that table. That had to be the popular table.

"Um-" Stiles was about to protest when he felt an arm snake around his shoulders loosely. "Actually, Stiles is sitting with us today." It was Scott's voice. He and Allison looked at each other and immediately both looked away quickly, flustered.

Stiles wanted to roll his eyes, they were so annoyingly in love with each other.

Allison stood up with her lunch and gave Stiles a light shrug. She said a quick goodbye to him and she and Lydia left for the popular table.

Scott let out a breath, almost a sigh of relief. Stiles smirked. "You really have it bad for Allison, don't you." Scott playfully scowled.

"Shut up."

Stiles shrugged and let Scott lead them to his table. He was slightly excited to note that Derek was sitting there, talking to a boy with curly brown hair. A dark skinned boy and a girl with bright red lipstick were talking to each other from across them.

"Guys, Stiles will be joining us today." Scott announced. The girl with the bright red lipstick grinned hungrily at Stiles, causing him to stay closer to Scott. "He's so pretty Scott...where did you find him?"

"Erica, he's not an object. You already have Boyd." curly-haired boy said, nodding his head to the dark sinned boy's direction.

Erica pouted at Boyd, who just shrugged. Good, at least he wasn't the jealous type. Stiles would be screwed.

The three at the table were staring at him curiously, like he was some undercover pop star. Derek frowned once he noticed Stiles, though. "What's he doing here?" Stiles felt his heart sink a little. Did Derek not like him? He probably said something wrong, it was always something he said something wrong.
