Her lips brushed against his, the warmth in her cheeks faded away as she was swept up in the moment, her insecurities and worries disappeared as he pulled her into his embrace. The wind whipped past them, blowing her amber hair but, they didn't seem to notice it as the sudden chill of the December night began to set in. Her hands cupped his cheeks as he pressed his lips against hers, his arms wrapped around her waist.
The rustle of the cool breeze rustling the remaining trees didn't seem to faze them as they kept in their embrace, breathless as they stared at each other, curiosity filling their brown eyes.
She stumbled back, her breath catching as a giggle escaped her lips and a soft smile slowly melted the stoic features of his face. A sudden chill crept up the girl's spine as she turned around to face the world again. She turned to face him before leaping into his arms. Through their hardships and fights, they always came back together. The girl chewed on her lower lip, her fingers lingering on his before finally running off into the dark streets of the small town.
His heart pounded against his ribs as he watched her disappear in the shadows. The feeling of her lips against his still lingered on his, a  strange yet familiar feeling that left his heart yearning for her to come back. He glanced around, grazing his hands along the goosebumps that covered his arms before running into the partt.
His friend, a girl who he had known for 3 years, sat in the corner, sipping beer and talking to the jocks. He scowled before making his way towards her. "Amy!" He yelled and her attention snapped to him. For a second a light shined in her eyes. Sadness or hope, he couldn't tell. Her expression quickly changed into the smile that always greeted him in the early morning when the tired sun was coming up over the horizon and the pale moon faded away into the rest of the blue sky. She jumped off the table she had been sitting on and let towards him, throwing her arms around him, engulfing him in her perfume and warmth.
"Alex, are you okay? You disappeared for a while," She asked, curiosity filling her honeyed voice, almost as if her voice was an overflowing river, ready to be calm again or wreak havoc on neighboring buildings or things. "Yeah. I'm more than great," Alex said, his eyes wide and bright, a smile displayed across his face, however his heart still ached from watching her run from him.
"Oh? And why is that?" Amy giggled, cocked her hip, and her attention drifted from his eyes to his lips. A wave of obliviousness washed over him as he ignored her begging for him. "A girl, she kissed me and I can't describe it," he said, his voice lighthearted as he recalled the feeling of their kiss.
Amy's eyes shifted to the floor as she crossed her arms, her smile disappearing. Alex looked up, confusion circling his mind. "What's wrong?"
Amy shook her head, an uneasiness filling her blue eyes. "You know what? I've been sitting here waiting for you for 3 years now and when you've finally found a girl...its not me," her angered voice slowly lowered into a whisper and dread seeped into Alex's stomach as he listened. "I think I am going to move schools. It hurts, Alex. It really does," Amy whispered before turning around and walking away into the crowd.
Alex sank into the corner, his eyes darted around the room trying to find Amy but, even if he did find her, his feet wouldn't move.
