"It appears that there might be a mysterious criminal roaming throughout Japan."
Watari acknowledged through the mic.
"Mmm. As it seems..." I mumbled through my moist strawberry cake. "Have they figured out who this...Kira may be?"
A short pause and Watari replied hesitantly, "No, L. Not yet."
I licked my fingers which had vanilla frosting on them and sighed. "Well then. This investigation will become a challenge for me."
"I'm sure you'll do fine." Lowering his tone, Watari assured me, "After all, you ARE the best detective in Japan."
Of course. The usual praise from my old friend Watari.
I found myself smiling as I picked up a single strawberry with my sticky fingers. "Ah, we'll see." was all I replied, before gulping down the delicate small fruit.
"We'll see."
...
For some reason, it feels as if this will be the beginning of a whole new challenge.
And I'm not just thinking that because this strawberry is stuck in my throat...
