The following days were hell. Somehow everything that went wrong was my fault. And I got punished accordingly ofcourse. "Get up!!" I got the chills after hearing Darla's voice. "You've got school today, and you don't wanna find out what happens when you're late" she yelled. There was no time to be vain, so I did what I could to make myself look somewhat presentable. I rushed down stairs and grabbed my lunch, that one of the maids had prepared for me. "Have a nice day at school darling!" I heard eugene's soft voice say after I had gobbled down my breakfast. "Thanks dad" I said smiling. "You spoil that child. Off with you!" said Darla with a look in her eyes so mean, it felt like it was burning into my back as I walked out the door. Drew followed me shortly after. "Hey Drew, are you nervous?" "A little he said, but we should just make the best out of it. Like everything in life" he said with a shaky voice. It was obvious that he was really nervous too. "Thanks Drew I needed that. We'll be just fine" I said trying to reassure us both. the school was pretty far from home, but we had a chauffeur, which I still had to wrap my head around. It was obvious as soon as we entered the class room. Drew and I were too different to get along with any of these people. I decided to socialise anyway. Like Drew said I've got to make the best of it. "Hey there I said to a girl sitting on her own" She didn't respond. "I'm Christina and this is Drew" She glanced over at Drew with a blank expression on her face. She sighed. "What are you talking to me for? And these seats are taken by the way" I rolled my eyes and grabbed another seat. "Come on Drew we don't need to be talking to people like her." The bell rang. "What a bunch of childish idiots huh?" I said to drew hoping for him to feel the same way. "I guess we're just too advanced for our age, you can't blame them for being normal". He said. Not the answer I was hoping for, but it was the truth. Not long after we got home Darla got home too. She looked around almost as if she was looking for an excuse to punish me again. "Why haven't you done the dishes Christina?? You know the drill get your ass over here" she said almost as if she was happy she got to punish me again. A familiar pain started to take hold of my body. After a while of Darla's punishing, I heard Eugene rush down. "That's more than enough Darla." Eugene cried out. "She hasn't done anything to deserve our sympathy" she snarted out. "Follow me Christina" he said. I did as I was told. I followed him untill we were in a room with alot of books. I figured that it was Eugene's study. "Are you okay sweetheart?" I wanted to answer him, but I just suddenly bursted out crying. "It's okay let it all out" he said with a concerned look on his face. " You know, Darla wasn't always like this. She used to be a loving mum, untill she lost her child in an accident. It was the only child she was ever going to get, because her body didn't take the pregnancy very well." Eugene said with a certain pain in his voice. As if that would make her actions acceptable I thought, but I appriciated what he was trying to do. He was closer to being a father than my real dad ever was...
