"Would you mind going a bit slower?" The man who just came to pick me up asked politely. "Have you lost your mind Eugene? At this rate we wont be home until next year!" His partner yelled. "But it's raining Darla. It's very slippery, so it would be dangerous to keep driving this fast". "Whatever I don't care anymore" Darla said with an annoyed look on her face. I couldn't help but to think about how strange I felt. Why was I the one who got picked. And why was Eve so against Lizzy getting taken. I rested my head against the car window. This couple must be very rich to have their own car, let alone their own chauffeur. "We're here my lord, and lady." The chauffeur said interrupting my thoughts. We're here? But we're in the middle of nowhere!? I turned around, and there it was. A massive mansion. You couldn't even call it a house. "Show your daughter around dear I got stuff to do" Darla said and rushed off to the house. "Daughter?" I asked. "Oh that's right your family didn't tell you about it did they? Well from now on I'm your father. We made an arrangement with your biological father to adopt one of his children. Let's try our best to get along." He said with a smile on his face. His expression and his words felt genuine, but I was just too shocked by the fact that my family just gave me away to a couple of strangers. "Follow me please" Eugene said. I decided to go along with it, what other choice did I have? As soon as we entered the mansion I noticed a boy hiding around a corner. He looked pretty young I'd say he was about my age. During the whole house tour the boy kept following us. I didn't mention anything about it, since I thought he was just really shy. It seemed like Eugene didn't notice him. Apart from being massive, the house looked pretty normal. There were lots and lots of rooms and hallways. "And finally, here is your room". Said Eugene. Take your time unpacking your stuff, and getting used to your new room. I'll call you when food is ready". While I was unpacking my stuff the boy from earlier entered my room. "Hey there what's your name?" I asked. "Drew" he said "Nice to meet you Drew I am Christina". So are Eugene and Darla your parents?" "Yes they are" he uttered out. "Tell me more about them!" I asked with a not so convincing smile on my face". "Ehm mum can be really scary when she get's upset, whatever you do don't make her mad. And dad can be strict when he has to but is overal really nice." After about an hour of chatting with Drew, Eugene called me to join dinner. I came downstaits with Drew behind me. There was a huge dining table filled with food. All the houseworkers attended dinner aswell. It seemed like there had been a spot next to Darla prepared for me. I took a seat next to her, and waited politely until I was allowed to eat. Eugene rang a bell. It was probably to indicate that dinner had begun, because everyone started eating. There had been a fork and a knife neatly prepared around the plate. The only problem was that I am left handed and therfore hade to switch them around. Darla noticed, and slapped my hand. "Eat properly child, we can't have uncivilized little mongrols in our family." She snorted out. "But I am left handed". She rose her hand and slapped me in the face. "How dare you talk back to me! You ungratful little pig". I turned to Drew. He was looking at me with his big eyes. I could tell that he wanted to say: "I told you not to make her angry".
