After Eugene died Darla's health rapidly declined. Eugene was all she had left. She probably didn't concider me family at all. Apperently adopting a child was her idea, which I still don't understand. Why would she treat me like this, if she wanted to adopt me? Eugene was the only real family I had left, and he left me too. Whenever I was sad I would sit in Eugene's study and ponder. Untill one day I found a gift wrapped in gift wrapping on a shelf. "For Christina" was written on it. My heart started beating rapidly. What could this be? I eagerly opened it, inside was a little diary with a beautifull orchid on it. Eugene was so thoughtfull, I thought to myself. He knew I loved orchids. The following days I would write all of my thoughts in that one diary, every day. It didn't take long for that diary to become my most valued possession. "Christina!!!" Darla yelled interupting my thoughts. I quickly ran downstairs to see what I had done wrong this time. "What is this!?" She screamed holding up my diary. "Give it back Eugene gave it to me!" I tried to reach for it, but she threw it out the window, into a river next to the house. "How dare you write all those lies about me, I'll make sure you'll never write lies again!" Darla said blinded by rage. What she did to me after she said that, was indescribable... About 7 years after Eugene's death, Darla got so sick that she couldn't walk anymore. I had to do everything for her. And I did everything wrong in her eyes ofcourse. "Darla, do you still want me to go to the bakery? Darla??" I ran to her bedroom, and I couldn't get her to wake up. Is this it? Is she gone? I thought I would feel happy, but instead I just felt empty. What now? I decided to keep living in the house. "Dingdong" It was the front door. I opened the door to a middle aged man in a suit. "Hello, does miss Christina Smith live here?" He asked "yep, You're speaking to her" I said. "Someone called Eugene asked us to keep this for you" he handed me a fancy looking suitcase. "With the message "Happy 18th Birthday Christina, be good and be strong" have a nice day miss". I quickly closed the door, so I could take a peek at the content of the suitcase. It was filled to the brim with stacks of money.  With this kind of money I could take care of myself for years. I decided that I wanted to go away. Away from all the sadness and drama. The next few years were all about freedom, and discovering who I was as a person. I let my hair grow out, and bought a motercycle. Things I wouldn't have imagined myself doing, ever. I spent most of my days as a nomad. Traveling from place to place on my motorcycle. I enjoyed my freedom, but as I was getting older, I started to crave purpose. So I decided to adopt a child. A child that would never have the same kind of miserable youth as I had. "Look mummy a beatifull shell!" My daughter yelled with glee. My daughter and I were on the beach that sunny day. "Wow beautifull lillith! Go find mummy some more" I said with a smile on my face. While Lillith was looking for shells, a strange looking man approached me. "It wasn't your fault Christina, you didn't kill him. I'm glad to see you stayed strong. He also told me to tell you that he still loves you" no way, he was talking about Eugene. But how? I couldn't contain my emotions, and I started bawling. Like a baby who couldn't find her mother. "Sir? How..." I uttered out, But he had already left. Mummy look! I got you more shells!" She tilted her head a little when she noticed the tears rolling down my cheeks. "Why are you crying? Do you have a booboo? I'll kiss it better for you mummy!" Little lillith said. "It's okay honey, the clouds aren't gloomy anymore." I said convinced. "That was a beautifull story auntie Christina. Why don't you write a book about it?" Roy said. " I can't darling, my mother took the ability to write from me." I said "Don't worry auntie, I'll write it for you" Roy said.
