A/N: This one-shot will never end. Just kidding, just kidding, but it's really exhausting writing this one-shot. I thought this part would be the last part. I was wrong. In the future, I may publish and edit the one-shot again and make it into ONE chapter. Sorry for the long waiting, I was... lazy. No excuse. I hope you will enjoy this one-shot! ----XXOO, Waterpurple
Hugh Cantrell kissed her.
Hugh Cantrell kissed her.
Hugh Cantrell kissed her.
These three words were the only things that Merissa Nickleson was thinking.
That kiss was, by the way, her first kiss. (Apparently, we're not counting those family kisses.)
"You... just..." She looked at him unbelievably, "kissed me?"
"It's truth or dare. We need to follow the rules." He said calmly.
"When you started following the rules?" She grumbled.
"Just now?" He said 'innocently'.
She didn't know what to feel. He was her rival. They should hate each other, shouldn't they? He's immature, he's arrogant, he's rude... "Maybe you should give him another chance," a little voice in her head whispered, "remember that wonderful conversation you two just had? Maybe he's not that bad."
"You're my partner. Wanna dance?" She reached out her hand, trying to act normal.
"Sure."
*
It's awkward.
It's super awkward.
They danced all night----well not technically all night, apparently, sometimes they stop and have a round of truth or dare or something... but they stayed together all night.
They knew each other more than they did in the last 12 years.
They laughed, they fought in a playful way and everyone who knew their relationship was truly amazed. Hell, they couldn't even talk without insulting each other, and now they were laughing at each other's jokes? I must've been dreaming!
"Looks like someone is falling in love," Harley gave Merissa a flirtatious look (which was hard to notice under her mask).
Merissa blushed and pretended to hit her. "You're overreacting. Hugh and I----"
"Oh, so it's not Cantrell anymore?"
Merissa ignored her. "Hugh and I are just friends, for god's sake, Harley, today is the first day we become friends."
Averie just smiled and said nothing (because she's not a crazy fangirl like Harley is).
"I wish you best anyway," Harley said, her eyes filled with sparks, "continue. I won't be a light bulb." Then, she walked away calmly and so did Averie.
Merissa could not lie. She needed to admit she had a great time with Hugh Cantrell. The Prom wasn't hell as she thought it would be.
She knew after tonight, everything will be over. Friendships will fade away, they need to become more mature, they need to grow up---- prom is the last magical night they'll ever have.
So if there are any regrets, do it tonight.
It's now, or never.
A crazy thought lighted up in her head.
She quickly walked towards Hugh Cantrell and asked him, "Did you ever wonder what girls toilets look like?"
"What did you----oh!" He widened his eyes, "I never thought you're that crazy, Meris."
"It's the final day, for god's sake, Hugh, we've got to make it special. I'll guard at front of the toilet to make sure no girls come in. You, go in and 'explore', vice versa. Deal?"
He had that signature smile on his face. "Deal."
