A/N: Sorry for the delay in updating, but this chapter is up now! Let us know what you think x

"What's up?" He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and leaned forward in his seat, secretly hoping she was going to negate his previous statement. He didn't want to go back to normal, he wanted more.

"You said something, all them months ago. And we never got a chance to discuss it."

She looked up at his confused face, not knowing whether he actually had no idea, or if he knew what she was about to say. She decided to believe the former. They'd played a game of back and forth for too long now. She told herself that he wouldn't have helped her today if his feelings had changed.

She took a deep breath and decided to continue.

"I don't think I dreamt what you said to me when I was in hospital." She felt tears prick her eyes and her throat clammed up. She sniffed and looked down into her lap.

He sat up. He'd managed to avoid explaining himself one time. But maybe it was time to explain.

''Lily, look." He placed both his hands on the table.

"No, please. Let me speak." Lily stopped him. She needed to do this. She looked up and met his eyes.

"You said that if I got through that, you and me, we're going to be something special."

She remembered. "You remembered."

His voice came out as a whisper. A feeling of relief overcame him, but it was quickly conceded by fear. Where was this leading to?

Lily nodded, a small smile prevailing through the few escaped tears. She saw his eyes soften when she spoke and she knew she was right to continue.

" I remembered. And, what we had them few days was the most special thing I've ever had. I don't want to go back to normal, Iain. I want that something special back...me and you."

She looked up at him and waited for a response.

He couldn't believe it. She did hear what he said that day. And he was glad. He was too worried about scaring her away that he was all too ready to let them fall back into friends again. But all this time, she felt the same way about him.

Lily waited for him to say something, but he just stared at her. That was enough to tell her how he felt.

"Forget it."She wiped her cheek and stood up. "Forget everything I just said, Iain. It's clear you don't feel the same way." She grabbed her bag and left without even glancing at him.

"Lily, no, wait! Lily!" Iain grabbed his jacket and followed her towards the door.

She heard him following her, but she didn't want his pity. She continued storming away from him, determined not to look back. She knew it was wrong to open up like that, and she never had before, for this reason specifically. To save her the embarrassment.

She opened the door and stepped out into the biting cold air. It hit her sharply, in harsh contrast to the warm comfort of the pub. She stuffed her hands in her coat pockets and walked quickly, feeling the cold air nip her cheeks where trails of tears remained.

"Lily, wait!" She heard him call her again. She couldn't look at him. She just wanted to get away from this all and pretend it never happened. She looked down and picked up her speed.
"Lily, stop!" Iain caught up to her and held her arm. He spun around to face her, blocking her path. She stopped in her tracks and shook her head so her hair came forward to hide her tears.

"Lily, hear me out." He said, panting. The cold tension between them was perfectly reflected by the frosty chill in the air.

"It's fine, Iain. Your silence said enough." She shook her head, and jerked her arm out of his grasp. She turned and began walking away, not wanting him to see her hurt.

He grabbed her hand. Before she could even say anything, he pulled her back. She stumbled a step backwards, but landed in his arms.

Her hands were resting on his chest and his arms encircled her, pulling her closer, trapping her so she couldn't run away from him again.

She was forced to look up at his face and she wished she hadn't. Even in the dark, his green eyes glistened, captivating her and she couldn't look away. He rested his forehead against hers. He would never have done that normally but something told him that that was the right thing to do.

"I didn't say anything, Lily,  because I was in shock. Shocked that you were saying all I've wanted to hear for months." He said quietly to her in the dark. His eyes closed as he felt her look down, her hair now coming into contact with his forehead.

He moved a hand from her back and lifted her chin. He looked down into her eyes, which were wide with tears. Even in the dark,  he could tell the tip of her nose was red with cold. They moved closer, close enough that Lily could feel his warm breath on her cheek.

"And there's nothing more that I want in this whole world than that something  special."

He kissed her. And it felt perfect. It felt right. Lily's arms wound around his neck as one of his hands cupped her face and the other pulled her even closer.

They pulled away, breathless. Their eyes still closed, they touched their foreheads together. "Your nose is cold." Iain chuckled in the dark.

"Shut up." She reached up on her tiptoes for another kiss. It was short lived however, as Iain lifted her up from around her waist and swung her around.

They laughed, as their misty breaths mingled in the cold, night air. It wasn't cold anymore, though. All their icy façades had melted, and nothing remained but the two of them.
