"Wait! Stop!" I can help you!"

One of the remaining half clad acolytes stood near the barred door. She watched with calm, observant eyes as Michael walked over to her.

"What's your name?" He sensed something different about this bold, dark haired woman.

She lifted an eyebrow then answered. "My name is Allasandra. A witch who will serve you well, if you spare me."

Bella was intrigued by the woman's lack of fear. "Why would Lucius need a witch?" She didn't trust these upstart female demons.

Allasandra laughed without mirth. "He grew tired of mortal women. He liked what I could do for him in his bed."

Bella was unimpressed. "That's a sad state of affairs for a witch."

She looked at Bella appraisingly with her blue, hypnotic eyes. "I happen to know who crafted the dark spell that bound you for a hundred years."

Just then they heard the baying of wolves in the distance.  Allasandra pointed to the door. "The dark Lord has a pact with the wolves in the surrounding forest serving him. They are hellhound wolves that will tear your immortal bodies to shreds."

Screams were heard in the distance as the wolves started shredding the acolytes who had fled on the other side of the door. Bella looked shocked. "How have these brethren, these children of the night, become so demented?

Allasandra laughed. "You've been gone a long time, Una Bella. True evil has lost its place here." Bella looked at Allasandra calmly while the wolves continued to batter the wooden door. With every hit it threatened to break from its hinges.

"Really, what's replaced evil in ruling this world?"

Allasandra replied while pulling up a trap door in the floor. "Commerce."

She led them into a subterranean tunnel that became a network of caves. Finally, they arrived at an exit from the side of a mountain.
In the distance they heard the baying of the wolfhounds.

Allasandra turned to Michael and Bella. "You must leave now, before they track you here."

Bella faced her with barely contained rage. "This is my rightful home. I plan to reclaim my father's castle. And my heritage."

"First things first, Una Bella Morte. Your father knew patience. Find that in your blood, not just your lust for vengeance."

Michael looked at his beautiful mate, "Yes, Bella. She's right. There is a time to fight, but not now."

Allasandra took a dark globe from her robes and handed it to Bella. "Use this to find me. Now that I've betrayed the Dark Lord he must kill me to protect himself."

As Michael and Bella departed into the night, Allasandra laughed quietly to herself. "Fools!"
