The Super Six were gathered right behind a dark, dirty alleyway of a row of houses, lit only by a few flickering street lights. They were here to bade Serporia and Daniel goodbye. Each of them hugged them in turn. It was not until midnight struck that a portal opened up near them.

"We'll be missing you." Yaya said sadly.

Lia came forwards to shake their hands. "Thanks for everything!"

Serporia and Daniel beamed as they took her hand.

"It's no problem," Daniel said, hitching his backpack onto a better position on his back.

Astor cleared his throat loudly as he addressed Serporia.

"I...thanks for showing me the way. I would always owe you one, and..." he hesitated, the grey eyes staring right into the green ones. Daniel's were however flickering between them eagerly. At last, Astor breathed in and said, "Take care."

Unexpectedly, Serporia suddenly wrapped her arms around Astor. Though shocked by her actions, he hastily wrapped his arms around her.

"I will," she whispered quietly into his ear. "You'll see me sooner than you think."

With that, she let go of him, leaving him still quite stunned.

"Goodbye!"

"Have a safe trip!"

"Good luck!"

Serporia and Daniel gave them one last glance before walking right into the purple framed portal. When Daniel's bag vanished, the portal disappeared along with it too. With a final zap of power, they were both gone.

"Well, then, who wants to go for supper?" Fang shrugged casually.

Ying giggled. "I think it's too late for that." She pointed at a snoring Gopal with his bottom facing upwards. He must have fell asleep and collapsed frontwards.

After a moment they managed to wake Gopal up again so that they can return home. But what missed them by a second was...

A crackling mass of energy formed in mid-air. And in a flash of light, a similar portal that had disappeared minutes ago had reappeared again. This time, it wasn't Serporia nor Daniel that had emerged from it. A tall figure with light blue eyes and spiked hair tinged with white had stepped out instead. He was wearing a buttoned peach shirt that he didn't bother to button up and a pair of dark blue pants so dark it could resemble black. Another crackle of electricity and the portal behind him disappeared. This mysterious was not to be easily dismissed, because an old granny had came out of her house to water her plants in her backyard, and spotted the mysterious figure immediately.

"Young man, you should not be out this late, you know!" the granny croaked across her garden fence.

The mysterious figure turned his head in her direction, and she faltered under his curious gaze. Yet it was impossible to make out his facial features under the faulty glare of flickering street lamps.

"What year is it?" the man asked. He wasn't trying to even intimidate her, it was simply a kind request.

The old granny gulped, glancing around to make sure that she was the one that was being asked. After noting that apparently that there was no one else here, she was forced to answer.

"Two thousand eighteen...end of August..."

"Thank you, miss." he said, and with that, he was carried away by a snatch of shadow and disappeared into nothingness.

The granny looked around, alarmed. Had she been visited by a ghost? She was sure she had imagined it...she didn't have a couple good night's of sleep due to her grandchild crying every night, and tonight she had been out at midnight, awakened by her baby grandchild again.

Yes, it must have simply been her imagination. Yet she could not stop glancing back once in a while as she trotted back into her little house. It was nothing, really, she kept telling herself, just your lack of sleep...
