Poi is a performance art from New Zealand. It changed a lot when it came here but the base idea is the same. In New Zealand, it was done in groups with lots of singing. In the rest of the world, it's usually done by individuals, sometimes with LED's or fire on the ends. Poi is essentially a weight attached to a string that you grip the end of and spin. There is a lot of videos online to check out.
