The room gets blurry and my head begins to spin uncomfortably. I try to rise to my feet but my knees give out from the stress my body is now taking on and I fall back into my chair. I feel a major head ache beginning in between my eyes and my heart feels as if it is going to beat out of my chest.
I attempt to stand up again and this time barely succeed. I make my way over to the window and support my body with the window sill. Opening the window I violently and selfishly gulp in air desperately trying to catch my breath.
As I watch the people outside I become more and more furious. They are walking around in their normal lives, with normal routines and smiling faces while I get to sit here and watch my life, well what is left of my life that is, be swallowed into a huge, black abyss.
I hear my mothers footsteps coming towards the kitchen so, I quickly close the window, sit back down at the table and continue to eat my breakfast as if nothing has happened. I do not want her to know that I have figured it out. But as she enters the kitchen I can tell that she knows. Even so I continue with my act hoping that if I stay indifferent I may be able to fool her. At first I think that I have succeeded but as she continues to walk around the kitchen trying to look busy I find that she is just as good an actress as I am.
"When did you find out?"I ask in a harsh tone.
She turns around and looks at me with a tired expression and says, "this morning..." Her words sound painful and she seems to be choking on each letter as it comes out. But I do not care because I know her tears were not for me, they were for him.
"And you couldn't find the dignity to tell me?" I say in a harsh tone.
My mother mother's eyes drop to the ground. She turns away from me facing the counter that she had been wiping for the past five minutes.
"I can't believe you're so selfish," I scream at her.
She whips back around, looks right into my eyes and says, "don't you dare speak to me in that tone, alright? It takes one to know one."
I understand exactly what she is talking about with this comment and I know that it is intended to be a direct jab from the past but I am going to use it to my advantage.
"What on Earth could you be talking about mother," I ask with a fake shocked expression on my face.
My mother grows quiet and looks down at the ground with a hurt expression on her face. I'm guessing that she cannot believe I brought up this topic. "Nothing," she quietly whispers.
"Ya... thought so... "
I growl loudly and rush out of the kitchen. I stomp up the stairs but make sure not to slam my door because I know my dad is listening.
When I get to my room I drop on my bed gasping for air. My chest rises and falls as I begin to push all my emotions to the back of my head. After a couple of minutes I begin to calm down. I sit up and look at my appearance in the mirror to find that I look worse then I thought. My long, silky, brown hair is frizzed out, my skin is as pale as snow and my hazel eyes are green and dilated from shock.
