I walk slowly through the field of dead grass, hearing a loud crunch with each step. I am walking as slowly as I can dreading the thought of meeting my roommates in the portable. The twins trail behind me carrying my luggage uncomfortably in their hands.

When I finally make my way up to the portable I grab the cold doorknob. Taking one last look at the dead field behind me and slowly turn the knob. Taking in a deep breath, I open the door. I quickly walk over to the empty bunk in the right corner of the room. The twins follow me over awkwardly dropping my luggage on to my bed and then they slowly walk out of the portable.

I keep to myself quietly unpacking my belongings and organizing them in the small drawers underneath my bed.

I put on a cold, emotionless expression that I have worn all of my life as I finish unpacking but I can not help but feel like someone is watching me.

I slowly turn my head around and am instantly memorized by the two big, blue orbs staring at me. I try to look away but am drawn in by his beautiful blue eyes, eyes as calm as the ocean in the warm summer breeze. I am hypnotized. I search the rest of his features, his curly, chocolate brown hair, the litter of freckles on his face and the one dimple that is forming on his left cheek as he slowly begins to smile at me.

At this moment, I look away. But it is too late, because I can hear footsteps slowly creeping up behind me and I know they belong to him.

"Uh.. hey... Serenity right?" he asks with a questioning glance. I nod with a semi-confused frown on my face. A friendly, but sorrowful smile begins to form showing his dimple again. "My name is Kerek, I used to know your brother."

"Uh-huh," I say turning back to my packing in order to look distracted.

"Here let me help you with that," he says kneeling down.

"Oh no, thats's fin-"

"Really, I don't take no for an answer," he interrupts with a sly smile. So, here we sit shoving my clothes into my drawers in awkward silence and I'm hating every moment of it. I understand he is trying to be friendly but I just wish he would give up.

"So how were the twins? Don't you hate them?" he asks trying to spark a conversation.

"Uh ya," I say with a slight nod. Get me out of here.

"I still remember how 'gentle' they were when they came and got me a few years ago," he says with a slight chuckle.

"Uh huh." The conversation goes quiet again and I know he has ran out of ideas. Finally.

We finish unpacking my suitcase and he gets up extending his hand down to me to help me up. I hesitantly take it and he brings me to my feet in one swift tug.

"Uh, thanks," I say looking down at my feet awkwardly.

"No problem," he says with a smile trying awkwardly to find my eyes. What is with this guy? Doesn't he understand I don't want to talk to him.

"Hey Kerek, can you come over here a second? I need your help with something," calls a female voice from across the room. I look over and see a girl with beautiful blond, flowing hair that reaches her lower back and stunning green eyes that mirror the pains of her past.
