A chain reaction.

Olivia screamed, so I screamed.

She slammed the door, and ran over to her bed. After jumping in, she raised the covers up and whispered to herself, her shivering visible through the covers. I exhaled loudly, calming my racing heart. "What the hell, Olivia?"

Olivia lowered the covers an inch, so that only her raven eyes were seen. "There's a big, fat cockroach just outside the door."

Fact 1933: Me and Olivia hate bugs. Any kind of bugs. And cockroaches ace the list.

In panic, I quickly grabbed my phone from the bedside table, and texted Carter, who was studying right next room.

I frowned, biting my lower lip. I had no idea whether to tell him off for making internet jokes or strangle him to death for the use of this joke upon this ungodly hour of the night.

"Shelley?" Olivia's timid voice squeaked beside me. I shushed her, my eyes trained on texting a reply.

"Shelley?" Her voice came again, and I ignored her.

"Shelley!" She shouted at me, lowering her covers down. I looked up from the phone, and glared at her. "Whaaat!"

She pointed over to the door in fear. I leaned my head up to see what she was gesturing towards. My blood ran cold as my eyes landed upon the cockroach.

It had crawled through the space below the door.

The cockroach was now inside the room.

My shaking hands gripped the phone tighter, and my thumbs typed out words in a haste. From the corner of my eye, I could see Olivia's lip quiver and a gulp visibly ran down her throat.

The cockroach was not moving yet, motionless crouched at the start of the door

The cockroach was not moving yet, motionless crouched at the start of the door. Me and my twin were upon our beds, our eyes exclusively watching it. But I knew the moment it chose to crawl around the room, would be the moment me and Olivia would lose it.
