Kim Minseok's P.O.V

"Xiu!" A soft voice calls me by one of my nicknames. "Wait up!" I turn to look at the owner of the voice with a lazy gaze, not particularly interested in what they have to say.

"What is it Luhan?" My voice is the image of boredom, my eyes seemingly drained of energy.

My brother, Luhan, is less than two months younger than me. He is perhaps one of the strangest of my brothers. Although we have the same father, our mothers are different. Now, there are different races of people in Miridia, just like there supposedly is on Earth as well. From the stories of the old traveller of Earth, there are different languages for different 'countries', as he called them, which is similar to what we have here. The only difference is that we have different planets that speak different languages. That is why my brothers and I are able to speak different languages to each other. While we primarily use my language, I have learnt some of my siblings' language as well.

"You shouldn't have snapped at father like that." He lets out an exasperated sigh, his ears twitching in slight annoyance. "You have to be respectful to the man, especially in the presence of some of your citizens!"

"Whatever." Is my curt reply. I start walking down the long marble corridor, the inviting image of my comfortable bed clear in my mind. I want to go back to sleep. Before I can get another five steps closer in the direction of my room though, Luhan steps in my way.

"Minseok! Talk to me, please!" He screams at me desperately. My eyes waver for a second, surprise flickering to life for a brief moment before fading back away into nothingness. He's lucky we're alone, otherwise he'd be in serious trouble. "I know that you haven't been yourself for a while. You've been acting strange, even more distant than usual. You constantly have these glazed over eyes that make you look dead. I don't like it."

As he finishes his small rant, I can't help but inwardly smile. Instead of letting it show, I instead sigh lightly, motioning for him to follow me. His eyes widen slightly, only a fraction, before he proceeds to follow me to my room.

"Father has just been putting a lot of unnecessary stress on me lately is all." I nod my head towards a large pile of paperwork on my desk, flopping onto my bed with an exhausted sigh.

Luhan walks over to my desk, picking up the first piece of paper he sees before scrunching up his nose. "Extermination of the Kuiki bugs? I thought they were doing a good job eating all of the flies around the forests."

I lay my arm on top of my eyes. "They were." I pause for a second. "Until they ate them all and decided to start eating all of the berries the flies were eating. We just used one pest to get rid of another, only for it to be replaced."

"Whose idea was it?"

"Jongdae's. It seems he thought it would be funny to prank me."

Luhan scoffs at this, rolling his eyes. "You should have seen that coming, it is Jongdae after all. The damn troll."

I hum in agreement, not bothering to waste energy by moving my lips to speak. Luhan takes a stack of papers off my desk and walks towards the door.

"I'll handle these for you. Get some sleep." He says softly, opening the door with one hand whilst looking back at me.

I look up at him from my comfy position on my bed, the faintest of smiles ghosting my lips. "Thanks Lu." I murmur, feeling my eyelids starting to droop. The world of sleep pulls me away from Miridia, my imagination conjuring up an image of what a peaceful world Earth would be.

Kim Hiyori's P.O.V

I jolt awake, a cold sweat sliding down my back. What the hell was that dream? I think to myself as the fogginess that comes from sleep slowly starts to disappear from my vision.

"Hiyori! Get your lazy butt out of bed!" I hear the voice of my best friend, Sang Sohyun, outside of my window, shortly followed by a slightly loud thump on my window.

I groan as I swing my legs over the side of my bed, my feet touching the freezing wooden floor. I walk over to the window to see Sohyun under my window, rolling another snowball to throw at my window. "Yah! I'll be there in a second, just wait!"

She nods and crosses her arms over her chest, hugging herself for warmth. I sigh, a small smile gracing my lips as I look out at the snowflakes falling from the sky. I go over to my wardrobe and search for some warm clothes. Today will be a good day.

****

This is a slightly shorter chapter, sorry. I've had a lot of exams and assignments to do at school lately, as well as some friendship problems. Sorry to anyone that reads this crappy book, I'll try and update more often. I'll publish a book about the characters included in this series and it should be up soon. Thanks for reading~!
