The day dragged on until it finally was home time.
I was fed up with all the loud whispers of gossips and rumours about how I was somewhat retarded and a mute, just because I hadn't spoken once since I had started this school. I know right, talk about ignorant.
To top all of that, I had heard a group of girls mentioning how I was already in deep trouble since I had provoked the 'bad boy of high' who I supposed would have to be Shane- the mysteriously angry guy.
I grabbed my pile of books as well as my stationary and avoiding my shared locker, I hurried out of the tall school gates.
A girl from the crowd, pushed through everyone and then stopped right in front of me. Her face was heavily made up but the sneer that accomplished seemed to ruin her facade of beauty.
"Hey, bitch!" she called out "what are you wearing, you ugly tart?" She paused for a moment and then before I could respond, she spat straight at my face.
A sharp gasp echoed from around us and I looked up to see shocked faces. Waiting for some sort of response from the others, I quickly wiped my face in disgust.
The air seemed to have frozen at that current moment as nobody move.
All to soon, the groups of students disappeared, pushing forward quietly.
I felt a hand grasp my shoulders, and I spun around to face a broad man with ageing hair covering his face and head.
"What's going on here?" he asked, looking sternly at me and then the girl who had spat at me.
She batted her long lashes at his at then spoke in a small innocent voice.
"Sir, I was walking out of class and then she...she spat at me and called me a bad word."
Tears were now flooding her eyes and spilling over, as she make her voice shake with sadness.
"There there, Claire no need for all the tears now" the principal said awkwardly patting the liar on her back, trying his best to comfort her.
Then he turned to me, harshly glaring at me.
"Well Demi, what do you have to say about this incident? Any specific reason for doing what you did?"
I felt completely drained of emotions all of a sudden. I stared up at Mr. Dayton's face and had the urge to turn around and walk away from this wrinkled monster.
"Well?" he spoke again, frustration written all over his face. I realised how I had probably dozed off sometime during his monotone sounding speech, while gazing straight at him.
I took a step back, wanting to keep some space between the two of us.
After finally understanding that he wasn't going to get a solid answer from me, he sighed and then said in what he probably thought was a commanding voice, "After school detention on Wednesday for an hour. Make sure your in class room 213 at 3:30 sharp. If your not, be prepared for aother week of detentions."
The first thought that came to my mind was to not come to school on that day, but then realising that the principal was serious.
'What are you going to do at home anyway? Its not like you have a life out of school. You dont even have a family any more.'
The thoughts that were now circulating my mind made me feel a wave of nausea erupt within me, causing me to stop breathing.
Almost faint, I gathered all the strength I could and forced myself to think rationally.
I shoot my dirtiest dirty look at the fake 'Claire' before quickly walking out of the prison called school.
