Chapter 3- Always have a backup plan
*************************************
Scarlett woke up in a bed, set in a cold underground room. Her head was pounding and se couldn't breathe.
Suddenly, she heard voices. "You can't keep her here forever. It's against the Laws,"
Another person said in a deep voice, a voice that Scarlett remembered as the husky one belonging to the vampire who bit her. Her heart stopped and her blood ran cold. She closed her eyes. Please tell me this isn't real... "I bit her, James. She could Awaken at any time now."
Dylan laughed. "Shes not going to Awaken, she will die. It will be too painful," he smirked. "Perhaps this is just about affection? Do you like her, Will?"
Will growled. "Now, that is against the Laws." He glared at him. "Do you think I'm stupid?"
Dylan made a sound that sounded like a laugh and a scoff combined.
"Shut up," Will said, groaning in an almost embarrassed tone.
Dylan laughed. Then he stopped. "Well, look at that," he seemed to get closer to Scarlett. "Seems she's awake,"
Scarlett sucked in a sharp breath. How had he known she was awake?
Will walked over to where Scarlett was fake sleeping and gently brushed the black hair out of her face. Scarlett, surprised, shrunk back a little bit. Damn it, she thought. Damn reflexes. Will said, "She is,"
Scarlett opened her eyes, springing into action. She looked around. The room, despite being cold and stone, was perfectly furnished. There was a couch that was red and white checkered and a nightstand beside it, holding a lamp and a bottle of something red. It churned Scarlett's stomach as se remembered these were vampires she was dealing with. So of course they would have blood. Her blood? She shuddered. There was a coffee table with magazines piled into it. There was a little mini fridge, no doubt holding some more bottles of blood. Maybe some food for her, too. Standing by the door was James, his golden eyes glowing with amusement. His hands were crossed over his chest as if he was protecting the door from her. She lunged for the lamp and brandished it at Will. "Don't come any closer!" She shouted.
Will only rolled his eyes. "You think you can take me down?" He asked her sarcastically. "I'm a lot stronger than you."
Scarlett looked around frantically. What was she going to do? James was guarding the only escape there was and Will was right. He was a lot stronger than her. "I don't know why you're keeping me here or what you're planning to do to me but you're not getting away with this!" she said.
Will laughed grimly. "We're not going to hurt you," he said.
Scarlett didn't listen. She threw the lamp at his head. Well... Aimed it at his head. Before it even flew in the air, Will ducked and the lamp hit the wall behind him instead. It smashed into pieces instantly and left shards of glass on the floor.
Will walked toward her. Scarlett screamed, "Don't touch me!" she looked around for another weapon. "Don't hurt me!"
James was suddenly into action, walking toward her swiftly and quickly. Before she could so anything, he had her hands behind her back and she was blacking out.
