Chapter 5- Trust your instincts.

Scarlett, flustered, said, "What?"
Dylan smiled an amused smile at her astonishment. "A vampire. You're a vampire. A creature of the night. A damned soul. A bloodsucker. Bloodthirsty leech," he smirked. "Whatever you want to call it."
Scarlett felt like she was going to puke. Her face paled and she felt woozy. "I- what- for the love of-" suddenly, her throat burned like it was being poked with a fire poker. She didn't much care. The burning sensation was nothing compared to the feeling of pain she'd felt during the Awakening.
Dylan's eyes flickered with surprise. Did Scarlett do something wrong? "For the love of God." he said. "Was that what you were going to say?"
She gulped and then nodded.
Dylan smiled. "Try it again. Notice how it burns your throat as you try to say it. Doesn't feel so good, does it?" he was trying to torture her? After all she'd been through?
"Dylan-" Will started but Dylan didn't let him get that far.
Dylan asked, in a cold voice, "Perhaps you were catholic? Christian? Atheist? Well, now, it doesn't really matter what you were. Newborns can no longer speak the name of God or Jesus,"
Scarlett's face screwed up in confusion. "But you are. Aren't you a vampire?" He'd said holy names twice. Speaking the names while he was basically telling her he couldn't, it was confusing. If she couldn't say God, or Jesus, etc., why could he? If he wasn't a vampire, how did he know so much about the Laws and the Awakening, and especially, bossing Will around?Dylan seemed like the alpha to her but that wouldn't make sense if he was a human. Vampires ate humans, not associate with them.
"But I am not a Newborn," he said as if that was what the conversation was about all along and she'd been off in LalaLand. Like an annoyed teacher.
Will stepped in. "For the love... Dylan, shut the fuck up and Scarlett, stop being a smartass,"
Her jaw dropped at the same time Dylan's did. They said at the same time, "I'm not!" The way they talked in sync was creepy and was most likely never to be repeated again.
Scarlett clamped her mouth shut and blushed.
Dylan, however, kept a story face that revealed nothing.
Will rolled his eyes. "I swear, just like kids," he said. "That are too old to be babysat."
Scarlett growled, a sound that unwillingly came out of her throat. Surprised, she blinked and frowned. Suddenly, she felt her throat dry up and she felt thirsty. It was like hunger and thirst at all the same time, the worst she'd ever felt. She coughed and gasped, trying to call out to Will or Dylan but they were already in action.
Will knelt down beside her on the floor and Scarlett thought he would get all romantic on her and take off his shirt to stop the flow of blood. Even though there was no blood, Scarlett felt like there was, inside her throat where it was dry like a hot summer day.
Dylan got something from a mini fridge and Scarlett saw it clearly once he turned around.
It was a bottle of blood.
Scarlett, confused, asked with a dry throat and a croaky voice, "What the hell?"
"Drink up," Dylan said, giving the bottle to her.
