Chapter Four

            Nervous is an understatement, to explain what I'm feeling right now; this is our babies the first day of life. I wish there was a manual for this but a baby doesn't come with a how to guide.

God, I hope I do this correctly. I mutter under my breath, as I feel the slightest pinch of worry wash over my senses. Royce is approximately six pounds, seven ounces long. Minutes after birth, doctors examine him to make sure our little guy has a clean bill of health. With that being said, the doctors and nurses pile in to teach Nate and I the basics of how to care for our baby.

According to Doctor Creswell:

" The more time you spend with this little guy. " He gestures to him, "the more special it will be."

Today has been a whirlwind of emotions, for Nate and I. Our baby is perfectly healthy, ten fingers, ten toes. " How're you feeling my darling, about this?" Nate asked as if he could read my mind. " I don't know how I'm going to do everything, I'm just overwhelmed.

With Nate's hands cupping my face, " Forget about work, let's worry about what's to come next for us. We're a family of three now. "

I breathed, " A family of three, that does calm the nerves. "

" How'd I get so lucky ?" I asked as we went in for a kiss, his lips feel so soft, I could just kiss him for hours.

He always knows how to calm me down. My life would be useless without my beloved.
