patrick was, to put it lightly, freaking the fuck out. he needs to meet pete at the new cafe down the street in twenty minutes and he had absolutely no idea as to what to wear or what to do and oh god he was so scared and nervous.

after couple of minutes of just standing there not knowing what to do, patrick was done to one last option, facetiming brendon. he figured if brendon had somehow got ryan to agree to date him, then maybe he was doing something right and could help with patrick's problem. so far, brendon had helped patrick pick out an outfit consisting of an oversized baby blue sweater along with black skinny jeans, a fedora, and his pair of black converse. he was still incredibly nervous and at the moment brendon was trying to calm patrick down.

"you'll be fine don't worry. remember to be yourself and if he doesn't like who you are than that's his problem. you're a wonderful person pat don't worry"
"b-but what if i mess up he'll probably think I'm stupid.he probably already does"
"no he doesn't calm down trick"
"I ACCUSED HIM OF STEALING MY CAT WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE DOESN'T THINK I'M DUMB"

brendon started laughing really hard right after patrick had said that. he still doesn't know how in the world patrick didn't realize that pete couldn't have stolen his cat.

"stop laughing! it's not funny"

patrick was pouting now. this wasn't the time to tease him. he needed to go to the shop.

"it really is funny pat it really is. and i'm sure pete thinks it's funny too. he doesn't think you're dumb don't worry"
"thank you for everything brendon"
"no problem it was fun. MY BABY IS FINALLY GOING ON A DATE HOW EXCITING"
" why is literally everyone more excited than i am"
"because you're finally going on a date. now go on your date"
"i'll tell you everything when i get back"
"YOU BETTER TELL ME OR ELSE"

patrick didn't even want to question what brendon was going to threaten him with. he's been friends with brendon since middle school and he knew that brendon was one crazy dude. he's learned not to question him.

the shop was comfortable, with what sounded like troye sivan playing in the background softly. patrick was humming along. he would like to see troye sivan liv; it would be nice. it was warm inside which was a nice change from the piercing october winds. black and white plush chairs along with love seats littered across the little shop, along with succulents and fairy lights hanging on the walls. to top off the overall aesthetic vintage style, paintings from local artists were hung on the walls. patrick decided that his favourite paintings were the ones by gerard way.

after maybe five minutes of patrick constantly jerking his head up at the door whenever they heard the small bell ring, his neck was in pain, so he pulled out his phone and absentmindedly scrolling through twitter. he told himself that he shouldn't have come early but he always did this to make sure he wasn't late. and maybe because he was excited to see pete again.

the doorbell rung once again, but this time patrick heard footsteps walking towards them. battered black converse stood right in front of patrick. he looked up to see pete standing there and perhaps patrick's nerves skyrocketed right there and then.

"i'll go and order for us and before you say anything, yes i'm going to pay for you, no you can't argue about that, i asked you to come here therefore i am paying."
"no no no can't you at least take five dollars from me?"
"nope and that's final. what do you want?"
"can i have a cappuccino please?"

pete took some money out of his wallet and left to order. patrick doesn't know why pete left his wallet there but he did something any sensible person would do. he slid five dollars into pete's wallet. a couple minutes later, pete came back with their drinks.

"is that black coffee?"
"yep"
"how do you manage to drink that? it's so bitter. wait, are you secretly an old man?"
"aha no don't worry i'm not a creepy old man"

and that's how they started to laugh at everything for no particular reason. they were getting questioning looks from everyone in the shop but they ignored it because they were having fun.

45 minutes later they had gotten to know each other pretty well in pete's opinion. patrick was giggling and blushing so much and oh my pete thought that was the cutest fucking thing he's ever seen. he was glad a fat ginger cat had decided to run into him because otherwise, he would have never met this wonderful boy who has been making him laugh more than he's ever laughed, for the past 45 minutes.
