Within days, Chaewon becomes pretty settled in her new school. She hangs around with either Jimin and a few of his friends or Mina, who seems to mainly be alone, depending on who she sees first. It's mainly Jimin, however, who she sticks with because Mina is a musician and spends most breaks inside the music room.

One of Jimin's friends is a guy called Namjoon who Chaewon takes an instant liking to; he's funny and has a brotherly-vibe. There's also a boy named Jungkook who has deep purple hair and a cheeky smile. Again, Chaewon immediately clicks with him, which is odd considering she only ever had one male friend back in Seoul.

"What about your friends in the city?" Namjoon asks as they eat lunch in the cafeteria. Chaewon forgot to pick up her lunch bag at home so she's currently sitting with a strange-smelling soup on a tray in front of her.

"What about them?" She asks as she finally braces the soup and tastes it, relaxing when she realises it isn't half-bad.

"Don't you miss them?"

"I only had a few," she replies, setting down the rounded spoon. "Those I did have, I miss. None have really tried to contact me much, though. I'm scared in case they've forgotten about me already."

"Don't be silly," Jungkook smiles, leaning over and ruffling her hair, almost dipping his school tie into Chaewon's soup in the process. "No, they haven't. They're probably just busy or something."

"I hope so."

Chaewon jumps slightly when an unfamiliar figure slides onto the chair beside her, a heavy arm around her shoulder.

"Hey," the boy says and Chaewon frowns, trying her hardest to turn to look at him but struggles due to his close proximity.

A handsome boy sits beside her, attired in some kind of sports outfit and within seconds Chaewon feels her cheeks heating up ever so slightly. She blames it on the steam from the soup beneath her.

"Hi."

"You're Kim Chaewon, yeah," he says and she isn't entirely sure whether his words are a statement or question so she remains silent. "I've heard a lot about you. My team has only just gotten back from a competition in Seoul, that's why you haven't met me yet. I heard you're from there -- oh, and we won, by the way."

Chaewon is too shocked to speak so she simply sits with wide eyes, staring at the good looking boy.

"I'm Han Yeongsu, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Chaewon feels three pairs of eyes on her as she bows slightly in her seat. "I'm Chaewon, but apparently you already knew that."

Yeongsu smirks and Chaewon swears her heart literally flutters inside her chest. He's really good looking, with his chiselled jaw and sharp eyes and broad shoulders.

"I'll see you around, Chaewon," he says, the smirk never disappearing as he vanishes almost as quickly as he first appeared.

"What was that?" Chaewon asks in bewilderment to the boys beside her and opposite.

"He's an asshole," is the first thing that comes out of Namjoon's mouth.

"I thought he seemed quite nice, actually," she mumbles. "I've met worse."

"Wait until you actually get to know him," Jimin speaks up for the first time in a while. "He's a player. I won't tell you what to do or anything, Chae, but you should really stay away from him, he doesn't have the greatest history when it comes to girls."

She chuckles at their seriousness, thinking silently that he can't be that bad. "Okay, I will."

At some point during unpacking, Chaewon discovers a box in the cupboard in the corner of her room. A whirlwind of dust escapes it as she pulls off the lid and places it onto the wooden floor beneath her. There's an array of different photographs and newspaper cutouts inside which she quickly begins to look through, curiousness sparking inside her.

The first photograph depicts a small boy with who she assumes is his father. It seems to be an extremely old photo, considering the quality is poor and their clothes are remarkably old-fashioned. Chaewon giggles to herself because the attire reminds her of Taehyung. She assumes that these photos belong to previous owners of the house but wonders why they're still here.

There are ripped pieces of newspaper articles that are too dated for her to even read; the paper is too faded and there are marks covering many words.

"What're you doing?" Taehyung's voice suddenly echoes through the room, startling Chaewon and causing her to drop the pile onto the floor, sending the photographs and paper flying across the room.

"Holy crap, you scared me, Tae," Chaewon laughs loudly as she begins to pick up the fallen pieces.

Taehyung murmurs a sincere apology as he crouches down and swiftly picks up the photographs, setting them back into the box instantly. Chaewon does the same and places the box back into the cupboard where she found it, deciding to leave it alone for now.

"I need to stop creeping up on you like that, don't I?" He chuckles and takes a seat on the stool by her dresser like he usually does.

"You really do," Chaewon laughs in agreement. "One day you're going to give me an actual heart attack and you'll be arrested for my murder."

"I promise I'll be more careful from now on," he promises with a smile. "How was your day?"

"It was great, actually. A really handsome boy sat beside me at dinner, he's called Yeongsu. My other friends warned me about him but he didn't seem that bad. Anyway, he might have changed from what they think he is."

"What if he hasn't changed, though?" Taehyung asks casually and Chaewon's mind begins to wonder.

"I don't know. I always believe in giving people a chance, though."

"You're a good person, Chaewon. What did they say about him?"

"They told me he was a player," she reveals, taking a seat on the edge of her bed so that she's close to him. "He seemed genuinely interested in me, though."

"Did he?" Taehyung asks.

"Yeah, he did," Chaewon answers, praying she isn't being naive about the entire situation.

"You've got to be careful, Chaewon," Taehyung warns. "Sometimes friends are always right. And sometimes people aren't actually like who they seem to be."

author's note: Sorry, just another filler chapter!

I'm actually so excited for this plot to develop, I have so many ideas I want to try and include. :)
