9. Captured

As the night rolled on, all of the boys were fast asleep in the main area of the basement. Kevin was half asleep, having his head on his palm, with his elbow resting on the table for support. Finally, closing his eyes to get a few minutes of sleep for the next day to arrive. After a while of sleep, Kevin accidentally moved his arm, causing his head to move off his elbow and hit the table, waking him up.

Upon waking up, he noticed that another probe had snuck into the basement while they were sleeping, which was now hovering over Phi and Phil, staring at them.

Now alarmed, Kevin grabbed the axe from the table. "Guys! Wake up!" He yelled, causing all the boys to wake up startled. When Phi opened his eyes, he saw the probe in his face staring at him curiously, causing him to let out a scream, and kick the probe away from him which gave him an attempt to get away from it. Kevin rushed over with the axe and started to swing at the probe, while Rynan scrambled off to find something to help Kevin. Phil ran to the back room to warn Jordan about the probe that had once again snuck in the basement.

Successfully making his attempt to get away from the probe, Phi ran upstairs to also find something to use to help Kevin. Joe noticed Phi run up the stairs and decided to follow him knowing that they had to stick together.

Jordan then rushed out of the back room, to the main area of the basement to see Rynan and Kevin attacking the probe. Kevin took one final swing at it, before the probe moved away from him, and moved back up through the hole in the ceiling back to the tripod. The three boys then looked at Jordan who was looking at the area where the probe was, then looked at the boys noticing two were missing. "Where are the other two?" He asked in a concerned tone, as Phil, Kevin and Rynan looked around, noticing Phi and Joe were gone.

"Phi! Joe!" Phil called, his voice filled with fear and concern for his teammates and his best friends. It was quiet as no response came, but moments later there was the sounds of muffled voices followed by a door slam.

"Oh no." Rynan said as he followed Jordan and the others upstairs. Jordan led them through the house towards the front door, that led to the front yard and the hill that was connected with a small forest nearby. The whole valley was covered in red vine like plants that spread everywhere in sight. Jordan looked around and saw his sister and his nephew evacuating the area and decided to join them in their escape. He turned to the boys. "You three find your friends. I wish you the best of luck. Be safe and stick together." He said, his tone serious and concerned. The three boys nodded and shook his hand. "We will. Thank you for everything." Phil replied, as Jordan nodded and gave a small smile before heading off to join his sister.

Phil, Rynan and Kevin watched him leave until he was out of view. "Come on! We have to find Phi and Joe before it's too late!" Rynan said and ran off towards the hills.

There was a nearby tripod walking around the area, searching for anyone who was trying to evacuate the area. Phil grabbed Rynan and Kevin and tugged them behind a few trees and bushes so the tripod wouldn't see them. Phil once again heard muffled voices, and peeked around the trees as Rynan and Kevin also heard the voices and peeked around the other side. From their position, they can clearly see Phi and Joe standing on a nearby hill, looking up at the tripod that has spotted them while they were trying to hide.

As the tripod drew closer to the two boys, Phi and Joe backed up a few steps, knowing that there was no attempt of escape.

The tripod lowered itself down the their height, staring at them curiously as two rope like tentacles reached down, wrapping around the two boys tightly before lifting them up, as the tripod then stood up to its full height. Phil Rynan and Kevin sprinted as fast as they possibly could to get to their friends on time. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. After taking the two boys, the tripod began to walk off, thinking that there were not anymore people there.

"No, no no!" Phil yelled and darted after the tripod, with Kevin and Rynan trailing closely behind him. The tripod walked through a nearby house destroying it, but the three boys easily ran through it without a problem.

While running, Phil spotted a abandoned military truck that had been covered with the red vines near a dirt road. Phil ran over to it, and looked around in a frantic manner, then found a small sash of grenades within all the mess within the truck. Rynan and Kevin kept an eye on the tripod as Phil got out of the truck while holding the grenades in his hand. Rynan looked over at Phil and noticed the grenades and his eyes widened with concern.

"What are you doing with those?!" Rynan exclaimed as Kevin too, got more concerned of the situation. Phil looked over at the two of them then gestured towards the tripod.

"That tripod has our brothers. We stick together. If one goes, we all go." Phil replied as Rynan and Kevin nodded in understanding as Phil took one of the grenades off the belt that was in his hand, pulling the pin out of the holder and glared up at the walking tripod. "Hey! Over here!" He yelled as he threw the grenade as high and far as he could, while stepping back a bit. The grenade hit the force shield on the tripod, which grabbed the tripods attention, and caused the tripod to turn around and spot the three boys.

The tripod once again, lowered itself to their height and stared at them as two rope tentacles reached down and tightly wrapped around the three of them, individually lifting them up.

As the three boys struggled, the tripod stood up and placed the three boys in a small round shaped cage, with many other people who have been captured before them. Just across from them is an empty area where another cage used to be which is now gone. Rynan looked around and soon spotted Phi and Joe on the opposite side of the cage, looking both terrified and shaken. "Guys! They're over there! Look!" Rynan yelled, pointing at Phi and Joe, gesturing to them that he had found them.

Phil then nodded and led them over to Phi and Joe, moving around people who were terrified, crying and screaming for their lives.

Just as the three reached Phi and Joe, an unusual noise was heard and the metal door above the cage opened up, and a small rope tentacle slithered out, and found someone to take, and wrapped around his legs and pulled him up into the tripod, then the door closed again. Finally, Phil, Rynan, and Kevin made it to Phi and Joe, now calming down enough to think. "We're so glad you guys found us!" Joe exclaimed, as they all hugged each other. " We thought you would never find us!" Phi said, adjusting his hat on his head.

"We tried to get to you in time, but it didn't work. Anyways it doesn't matter now. We're together. That's all that matters." Phil said in a reassuring manner as the five boys were reunited, but still fearful on what might happen next.
