Too Early

"JAMES GET UP, YOU'RE GONNA BE LATE FOR SCHOOL," My lovely mother yells from downstairs. She takes me to school so it's only fair for her to be yelling. I jump up and put on black skinny jeans and a plain black hoodie. I ruffle my blonde hair and head downstairs.

"Coming mom!" I yell down to her. I get into her car and wait for her to lecture me to start making friend at school. I have a good amount already but she wants me to "expand my horizons" and make more guy friends because most of my friends are girls. Almost all the guys at my school are dumbasses or jocks who hate people like me honestly. Surprisingly she didn't lecture me today, which was good because i had a feeling today would be a bad day. 

I walked into the school with headphones to block out the loud thoughts of all the kids in the school. I walk upstairs to see my friends and i overhear someone thinking about how they would like to wrap their hands around.... uh.... lets hope its not in the kinky way because no thanks.

"Keep me out of your thoughts," I say to the one who was thinking about me, i can see his face contort in confusion and in fear, not knowing who said that to him or how it was said. He starts freaking out and walks away to the bathroom to, well who knows. I walk over to friends and block out their thoughts just in case they think about anything that's harmful directed towards me.

"Hey James!" My best friend Emma says to me. She has blonde hair and is wearing a white shirt and white jeans with a black leather jacket. (In Media)

"Hey Emma, how are you?" I say while taking out one headphone to hear her.

"I've been... okay, i found out my boyfriend has been cheating on me with that bitch Susan..." She says while looking down at her hands. Her and her boyfriend, Reed, have been dating for almost one year. Honestly i had a sense that he would break up with her soon, but not cheat on her. He had seemed to be at least a decent person, but turns out he was just a cheating douche.

"Oh baby no, i'm so sorry, i never would have though he would cheat on you oh my," I say while giving her a hug. Emma could sometimes be a bitch but she was always loyal to people who respected and were helpful to her. I go into her thoughts to see how she found out, and oh my, she caught them... in her bed. She yelled at Susan to get out, which she did, but before she left the room she told Reed to text her later. Reed proceeded to tell Emma that he cheated on her because he was tired of how she treated him when they weren't in public. She only treated him as if he were below him to hide how vulnerable she really is. I'll have to get him back for this. If he broke up with her it would have been fine, but he cheated on her? and now is dating Susan? That's completely unacceptable. Lucky for me, Reed is in my first hour.

"Don't worry, i'll make sure to give him a piece of what i think about him," I tell Emma hoping to reassure her.

"James, please don't, i don't want him knowing how bad he hurt me..." she said pleadingly. The bell to go to class rang and i helped Emma back and offered to walk her to class. She politely declines the offer and puts her headphones in her ears. I do the same and walk the other way to my class, which happens to be with Reed. But, also happens to have one of hottest guys i've seen at this school, his name is Lucas, he has golden skin, black silky hair, and plays sports. Most likely a straight jock with very fragile masculinity. I sit down in my seat with my headphones still in my ears as the bell for class to begin rings.

"... imagine you're standing in front of the giant job board" my personal finance teacher goes on. She gets cut off as we hear multiple gun shots coming from the front of building. The fear from everyone else comes flooding into my head, it was immense although i was scared as well but not as bad as everyone else. It's far too early for this shit.

"It's too fucking early for this shit," I say as i get up. Prepared to get rid of the shooter.

"James sit down right now! What the actual hell do you think you're doing!?" My teacher asks me. I don't respond and as i walk out of the classroom i turn into diamonds, immune to everything, emotions, pain, etc. I hit harder and can't be hurt. The only downside is that i can no longer use my telepathic powers. As i leave Lucas sees my fist turn diamond.
I see the shooter has taken the two officers that sit outside main office. He sees me and starts laughing.

"Ha, what the fuck do you think you're gonna do?" He raises his gun to shoot and pulls the trigger. The bullet bounces off of me as walk towards him. He looks at me in confusion and pours his clip into me, doing effectively nothing. I get right up to him and punch him in the face as hard as i could, knocking him, and a few of his teeth out. I turn back normal, and call the police. I wipe his memories so he doesn't remember what happened. I sit out in the front of the building waiting for the police as the principal comes out.

"Um, what happened?" He asked, very confused.

"There was a shooter, he took the two officers by surprise, and i got the jump on him." I say molding his mind to believe what i say. At first he doesn't believe me, but after a little of mental coerce, he finally complies with me. He calls school off for the day, and the next. I walk back to my class to grab my stuff, and as i knock on the locked and barricaded door do go back in they stay silent.

"The shooter is gone, the police have him in custody, look out the window you can see the police cars," I hear the shuffling of feet from inside as they take down the barricade and unlock the door. They all look at me shocked, all in unison thinking,

"How is he still alive?" I feel a sense of pride as i see Lucas staring at me with what almost looks like lust, but only for a second before it goes back to shock. Over the intercoms we hear the principal speak,

"The day has been cancelled, and as well as tomorrow, we'll have the buses here soon so just stay in your first hour classroom while we wait for the buses. That said, if you drive or can get picked up you may leave, but if you walk you'll have to wait until the buses leave," he said with a monotone voice, "I'm glad all of you are safe, i'd like to add."

As we wait for the buses i put in my headphones so people will stop trying to talk to me, but i don't turn any song on. I also text my mom to come pick my sister and i up. While waiting I go into Reed's head to get revenge for what he did to Emma.

"How dare you do that to Emma? You really think she deserved to be cheated on? You could have just broken up with her, but no, you had cheat on her with that whore Susan, who you slept with in EMMA'S bed? What the actual fuck is wrong with you, you cheating lying bastard. I thought you were a good person, i tried liking you, for Emma, but i couldn't, now have a reason for hating you, i hope you have a good life with Susan, and oh, for the record, next time you fuck Susan, use protection..." I tell him in his own voice so he doesn't know who it was. I also add on a migraine just to add salt to the wound. I look over to see him cowering in pain, and fear, and behind him i see Lucas looking at me with confusion.

"Why can i hear his thoughts? What is this? What the fuck did he just do to Reed? I'm so confused..." What the literal fuck, can he hear me? Did he hear what i said to Reed? I get so worked up, but so relieved when my mom texted me saying she was as the school to pick me up.

I greet my mom in the car as she bombards me and my sister Kitty if we're okay, she saw what happened on the news. We both reassure her that we're fine and that there were only two deaths. Everyone else was safe. Kitty is the only one who knows about my power. My own mother doesn't even know, i can't trust her. Kitty also has powers, she can go intangible as long as she holds her breath. I show her what happened, and she couldn't help but laugh at what happened, silently, of course. We get home and relax, happy that we had to the two days off.

(Hey! Author here. I hope you liked it. This is the first chapter book i plan on writing. James' powers are based off Emma Frost's powers from the Marvel franchise. Kitty's powers too, hers are based off of Kitty Pryde. But anyways i'm excited to write this story! Btw bolded text means thoughts, non bolded is normal.)
