"So that's why I fell asleep so fast, I was so worked up I really wasn't sure what happened to me," She sound ecstatic about the fact that i made her fall asleep. I hardly even remember what or how I did that to her. I just wanted her to calm down and suddenly she fell asleep. Of course i know how to do it now but when i had just awakened my abilities I barely even knew that i could hear other people's thoughts. When i finished showing Emma how I discovered my powers we sat down in her living room and turned on the tv, we watched Shark Tank and just talked about what it was like when we used our powers. She said when she used her shields it felt like she was extending herself to protect whoever she needed. When she goes invisible it feels like how you think it might be, just hiding away from everyone. I explained how when I needed to focus to hear a specific person's thoughts it was like trying to tune the radio to the right station. When I needed to control someone it was like I put a part of myself inside of their minds. It was like I controlled two bodies. There was a lot of other type of stuff I could do but the feelings were somewhat indescribable, it was very similar to not being able to remember a word but having it right on the tip of your tongue. We ended up falling asleep until her dad came in, she woke up first and soon after i woke up after hearing Emma and her dad fight. They were screaming at each other, it sounded like two banshees having a "who's louder" contest. I knew that her and her dad didn't have the best relationship but I didn't know it was this bad. I walked into the kitchen and saw that her dad was backing her up into a corner and she was crying so hard it was unbearable to watch.

"Do you want me to intervene?" I asked her, wanted to act immediately but I wasn't sure if she wanted me to or not, "Just calm him down," Her thoughts were scrambled, but I did what she asked, I calmed him down and he sat down in one of the chairs and I went to help Emma up.

"What happened?" I was worried about Emma but I needed to know what happened between them to make them fight like that. I didn't want to intrude her mind without her permission, but if worse comes to worse I might have to. She started crying more and went up to her bedroom, I would go up and see her but I needed to know what happened. I looked at her dad and he looked back at me, what looked like disgust. I put him to sleep so I could access his mind more easily.

(Emma's Dad POV)

My wife and I's flight was delayed for two hours, our luggage got mixed up, she didn't even get hers, I took a taxi home, and he didn't know where to go, my daughter missed school again, and I'm so tired. I got into my house and saw Emma and best friend James were asleep on the couch. I've told her so many times to not bring him here. She woke me up as i started to tell her off about bringing him here. She brought me into the kitchen and explained why he was here.

"I asked him to come over, he's my best friend and he actually cares about me, unlike you, you're always gone and whenever you are here you pay no attention to me," She was getting mad, "All I have ever done is love you, I just don't want that fag being in my house! He's an abomination and doesn't deserve to be in this house!" I was also getting angry, we started yelling back and forth until I suddenly felt very tired, I had to sit down or else I would have fell to the ground, James came in and helped Emma up off the ground and she started crying even more, she ran up to her room and James turned around and looked at me. He was disgusting, he should not be in my ho-.

(James POV)

He doesn't approve of me being friends with his daughter simply because I'm gay. What type of parent yells and screams at their child for having a friend that isn't super traditional like he is. He shouldn't treat his own child like that, it isn't right. I'll deal with it later. I needed to go check on Emma. I walked in her room and looked under her covers but she wasn't there, or at least I couldn't see her. I could still sense her mind and she was right where I thought she was. I sat down on her bed next to and started rubbing her back, she became visible again and I saw that she had recently stopped crying.
