AU where you have a timer on your wrist that says when you'll meet your soulmate (Short Chapter)

It was around 3:34 pm and my appointment with my new lawyer was scheduled for 4 o'clock sharp. My other lawyer had gotten into a car accident and wouldn't be able to meet the court date, so they offered to rescheduled it, but I got a new lawyer anyway. The case was over a miscommunication with one of your employees. He simply asked to go out for drinks, that was all. I didn't really expect him to pass out drunk and accuse you of drugging his ass.

Currently, I'm sitting in a quaint coffee shop around the corner from the office I had to go. I had paid my bail easily, apparently it was only a few hundred. Quietly sipping my warm drink, I felt a small tingle on my wrist. Placing my cup down, I pulled back my sleeve a bit.

I hated the clock. The thought that I was not in control of some aspect of my life was not a good one. Pulling my sleeve back down, I downed the rest of my cup and handed the mug to the barista.

"Done already?" Joí (Joey) said in small surprise.

I turned as I walked backwards towards the door. "I have a meeting with that lawyer, remember?"

She shouts "Look out!" as I turn around, and everything happened in slow motion.

The sound of a cane crashing to the floor, me crashing into another person, their suit crinkling slightly. I could feel the clock tingle again, but more intensely. We both collided with the ground with a loud thud. I groaned and held the back of my head, looking at who I collided with. I could faintly hear the whisper of a clock going off as I look at the man on the floor, in pain.

"Little help?" The man groans.

I blink myself out of my daze and stand up slowly. I hold out a hand and he does the same, to which I look at him again. Sunglasses - either a douche or... oh. Oops.

I take his hand and pull him up to his feet. Searching the ground, I pick up his cane and place it in his hand.

"S-sorry Sir, I um- uh..." I stammered a bit, not really sure what to say to my soulmate.

He gives a small chuckle and says, "It's fine. I'm Matt, by the way." Matt holds out a hand for me to shake.

I hesitantly take his hand and shake it. "(Y/n), I'm- I'm (y/n)."

Matt's smile widens a bit. "You wouldn't happen to be my four o'clock, Mr./Ms./Mx. (l/n)?"

I blink for a bit, fitting the pieces together. "Please don't tell me your last name is Murdoch," I say as a joke.

"Sorry to break your spirits, but I am, indeed, one Matt Murdoch," he shrugs and grins. This earns a small laugh from you. "Interesting way to meet your lawyer, huh? Shall I walk you back to the office? Or is it still early to discuss your situation?"

I glance at the clock on the wall, reading 3:41 pm. "I think it's best we head over to the office. It'll be four by the time we get there. I should probably walk you, considering the fact that I can see where I'm going," I loop his arm in mine and start leading him to the door.

"No offense, but you might want to get your eyes checked then," Matt jokes, earning another laugh from me. He smiles really wide when I do, and my cheeks were probably a little pink. Matt has a nice smile.

I look at his wrist and see dotted bumps on his wrist, I assumed braille. I don't know if Matt knows about the fact that I'm his soulmate or not. Either way, I'll be the best damn soulmate I could possibly be. Matt Murdoch isn't gonna know what hit him - even if I already did.

Okay just a side note: the story itself is 666 words, I swear. Just a small easter egg for Daredevil.
