When I woke up aggravated that my nightmares kept coming back it was 5:00. I decided to get up because normally I woke up in a half an hour anyway. I took my shower, got dressed, did my hair and makeup and then slipped out quietly after checking to make sure the alarm clock would go off. I walked down into the breakfast hall grabbed an onion bagel with cream cheese and some orange juice, sat down in a corner, and ate my food. It was nice to be able to sit down and eat breakfast once in awhile. I grabbed the Twins each something before I left and walked up to our dorm. I laughed when I walked in; Alex was tearing the place apart screaming about something she lost this time and asking me if she could borrow a hair clip as I slipped her her breakfast and Erin had just walked out of the bathroom her cordless blow dryer in hand her mouth gapping in shock. I put her breakfast on the counter, packed up my bag, and ran out so I could stop by my locker before first period.

When I was done I walked into class to where Sky sat frowning. I slipped into the seat next to him and asked him what was wrong.

“Its Jake. He said he was coming and said he would be here but class starts in three minutes. He seemed pretty down this morning and last night after…well you know.”

“Yeah I wanted to go talk to him later about that.”

“Oh yeah? How’s your neck feel?” His face turned from friendly to very concerned.

“It’s just really sore,” I grimaced as I turned my head and swiped the hair that covered it away to show him.

“I was really worried last night when I saw him drinking your blood like that. He really drunk a lot and you were really pale looking. I’m just glad I showed up. Who knows what could have happened to you if……”

I interrupted him, “I don’t want to talk about it ok? Let’s just forget it ever happened.”

“Ok.”

When it was time for lunch and Jake had still never shown up I decided to go check up on him. I walked up to the guy’s dorm, walked through the common room, and up the spiral staircase to the rooms ignoring the hooting from the guys in the common room and invitations to come ‘visit’ them as well. I opened the door and poked my head in, there sat Jake lying down on his bed staring blankly at the wall. I walked over to him and sat by his head. “Jake? Are you ok?”

He looked away flipping on his other side, “No.”

“Why?” I knew what it was about but I still had to ask.

“Because Lola I became the very person I despise! I drank your blood and couldn’t stop! I could have killed you! I almost attacked Sky when he pulled me off you and afterwards all I could think about was getting more blood. Your blood. I still do.”

I shivered and shrugged off my fear. I needed to be there for Jake no matter how dangerous it was. “Ok so maybe a relationship between us isn’t going to work out. But I’m not mad at all. We will always be friends. And you wouldn’t have killed me because your better that the rest of your kind. Trust me Jake its ok. I swear. My neck doesn’t even hurt. I’m fine but you can’t hang around and mope forever. Plus Sky and I have been worried about you all day. Please come out of here and come to class.”

He flipped back over and sat up slipping on his shoes, “Ok I’ll come out and I’m glad we can still be friends. I’m really sorry though.” Why was he sorry? It really was no big deal.

“Don’t worry about it we’re missing lunch though.” My stomach rumbled to prove it.

“Want to get to math early?”

“I guess.” I shrugged and we walked out. When the guys outside hooted again Jake flashed them his fangs and they stopped. We walked out together and made our way to math. When we got there Sky leaned against the door holding sodas and chips.

“Thanks man!” Jake walked straight up to Sky and clapped him on the shoulder grabbing the food and stuffing his face.

“Thanks Sky that was really thoughtful,” I smiled and looked up at him.

“No problem. I figured if you got pouty puss here out of our room you would miss lunch and both be pretty hungry.”

I watched Jake scarf down his food and laughed, “Carnivore,” I said playfully.

He grinned through a mouthful of chips, “You know it.”

We walked inside and sat at a table making sure to leave seats for the twins. Speaking of the twins, “Sky where are the twins?”

“Flirting with the twin sorcerers Cooper and Danny Madison.”

I groaned, “Not again.” I braced myself for the twin tears when the end of lunch bell rang.

“No this time the guys were actually interested. They have a date with them apparently next Monday night. Or so it seemed when they screamed it in my face before I left.”

“Oh that’s great! Hey wanna see the twins freak out?” I asked as they walked in the door eyes widening as they saw me sitting there.

“Ohmygosh Lola you will not believe what happened to us. We have a date with……”

“The Madison twins.” I grinned.

They looked at me in horror. “How do you know that?”

I smiled creepily, “I have my ways.” I looked over at Sky as they exchanged frightened glances.

“Guys Sky told me,” I giggled my laugh sounding like the tinkling of bells.

“Not cool Wolfboy,” Erin said while Alex’s head shook in disapproval.

Then Mr. Mathers called the class to order. I put my head down on the table and prepared myself for another boring math lesson.  While Mr. Mathers droned on and on Sky slipped me a note. It said:

Did you pack for tomorrow yet?

And I replied: Oh shit! I forgot completely! Looks like I’m skipping next period.

Sky snorted shaking his head: Damn! I knew shouldn’t have said anything.

I snickered quietly: Why? I was going to skip either way. Just tell Mrs. Lake I wasn’t feeling well and I went to my room to lie down. Watch me act my way out of this after class.

He nodded. Oh ok then.

Then Mr. Mathers asked me a question. I turned towards him, “The answer to number three sir? It’s 42.9.”

He nodded his head in approval, “Well done Lola.” He turned away towards the next victim. When the bell rang I moaned and clutched my stomach. “Hey Sky?” I made my voice sound weak and whiny. I pulled it off; Mr. Mathers looked our way.

“Mr. Skylar please escort Ms. Lola to her dorm room and make sure she is ok. I will alert Mrs. Lake that Ms. Lola is not feeling well and that you will be in class shortly.”

“Thank you Mr. Mathers,” I said trying to smile but pulling off a grimace instead.

The minute we were out of the classroom I sighed and stopped acting. Sky looked down at me and laughed, shaking his head and saying, “Amazing.”

Sky walked me to my room and we said our goodbyes. When I walked into the room I laughed. The twins had obviously used their spells to clean the room and it backfired. I cleaned the room up and then began to search for appropriate wear to a funeral. I settled on a tight all-black sweater dress and packed jeans and t-shirts for the rest of the weekend. “All done.”
