*There's like a couple swears in this one.. so yeah.*

"Would you be willing to dona-"
"Yes." I replied quickly, cutting off the nurse.
Avery needed blood. She had a pretty uncommon blood type that I just figured out I had as well. She had been immediately rushed into surgery to remove the bullet and anything else causing her to go into hypovolemic shock. The doctors available had already used as much as they could but we were told she could need more when she woke up.
I was pacing the room we all had been seated in, waiting for someone to give us an update on whether Avery and Tyler were okay or not. Toby had asked me to sit down and I lashed out at him, shouting at him to shut his mouth. I immediately regretted it but there was nothing I could do, what was said was said and now my brother was pissed at me.
I sighed with relief as the same nurse took me into another room and sat me in a chair. She started to prepare what she needed to take my blood and I watched as she scrambled through drawers and shuffled through cabinets. Once she was ready she asked me to straighten my arm. I silently observed her as she placed the tourniquet above the bend in my arm and waited for a second before using an alcohol pad to clean a small area on my skin. She slid gloves onto her bony fingers and uncapped a needle, carefully handling it as she moved toward me. She quickly inserted the syringe and extracted the amount she could take in one drawing.
She moved very quickly but not haphazardly which I silently thanked. After she had taped gauze over the puncture place and removed the needle she handed me a cookie in a package and a small juice box, asking me to eat and drink them so I wouldn't feel faint. I nodded and did as told, quickly finishing what was handed to me and pushing it aside. I had to wait another few minutes before I could go back into the waiting room with the others.
The nurse left the room and I took my opportunity to get up and leave the room. It took me a minute to regain my balance but I managed to make my way to where Tyler sat wide awake on the small hospital bed. The second I walked him he bombarded me with questions.
"Where is everyone? Is Avery all right? What's wrong with me?"
I didn't have an answer for any of them. Or at least I didn't have one he would like. I stayed silent and sat down, to his dismay. I couldn't help but feel bad for him. I mean, he had to watch her go straight off the roof, he had to build up the courage to jump from the helicopter and try to save her though she could've died anyway, and whatever they went through inside the building that he still didn't want to explain. I knew he'd been unconscious when we got to him and I found Avery pounding the door before him so I could at least gather that he was upset because he had either left her or had been unconscious the entire time.
I felt it wasn't my place to ask but I desperately needed to know what happened. As I opened my mouth to ask him about the building a doctor appeared in the doorway and asked me to step out while he checked on Tyler's state.
I shuffled quietly into the hall and waited for the doctor, prepared to ask him all the questions on my mind. As he walked out a minute later and I stood directly in front of him, determined to get the scoop on what was going on. I tried to speak but I was once again interrupted as he raised his hand to silence me.
"Sean will be okay for the time being. He has a minor concussion, bruised ribs, and a sprained wrist with first degree burns. with proper treatment he could heal in about a month or two.
I nodded and motioned for him to go on and he reluctantly did so
"But your other friend Maya may not be so well. We've treated her bullet wound and stopped the bleeding as best as possible but she did suffer from a large loss of blood. She also has first degree burns and a concussion, but we want to keep her overnight just to see if she wakes up. If she doesn't she may have to stay here until she does."
