Hearts of Darkness

Chapter 2

 I moved through the caves silently, using the abilities Luce taught me to escape from him and his wretched whole in the ground. I climbed higher and higher getting close to the top. Higher. Higher. Higher until clack, clack, clack a rock fell from under my feet. at that moment I ran. I ran one lever higher. I could hear someone coming. I dived into the place that I had earlier prepared. A place in Luce's own kingdom that he could not see. I used my weak powers to do an enchantment to seal the rock and I sighed in relief. I was safe. Now, when I said "my weak powers" I meant weak for a demon princess, even though I am not actually a demon. Back to the point, compared to a normal demon I am insanely strong. I am not as strong as Luce but I am strong enough to protect myself until I could hide. That is my speciality, I blend, like an assassin, into shadows and with my powerful golden eyes I am a dangerous predator.

A few days have passed and I knew that it was time. Luce would be furious and unable to focus his powers properly onto my presence. I climbed quickly, still careful not to make any noise. I slid straight past the guards and their pet three headed dog and onto the surface for the first time in my life. But then I realised my fatal mistake... I did not know where the opening would lead me to and I had therefore had to guess, I guessed that demons would need to hid on the surface from the humans and so I imagined a place that had a lot of hiding places that I could use, however that was not the case. The land was baron and had no life, and that is when it hit me, I am in the desert. I knew that I had failed and that I would be caught and killed when a heard a gasp behind me. I jumped and spun around bearing my teeth, only to find the one thing that would lead to my life changing.
