A tall man with dark brown, almost black, hair stood a few metres away from me. I jumped back in surprise, even my supernatural hearing didn’t pick up his movements. I scented the air, he smelled like blood which could only mean one thing. He was a Vampire. He bowed swiftly, “I am Kaname Kuran, it is a pleasure to meet you.” I tilted my head in confusion, I knew that name, he was a pureblood.

A pureblood is a vampire that is a descendant of a True Vampire. The children of this original vampire create the pureblood line. All other vampires are created either from a human and vampire breeding- Aristocrats or, a Pureblood biting a human without draining them completely- Low Levels. Low levels must have compatible blood or the transformation will slowly kill them. Purebloods however, tend to be against dealing with demons.

“What on earth would a Pureblood want with a demon” I snarled being sure not to lower my guard. He laughed slightly, “You are a special demon, you know that.” He sank to one knee showing submission, “Now please, let me escort you to safety, I am sure that the other demons will soon be here to retrieve you.”  I stepped toward him and he grabbed my hand and ran with supernatural speed that even I could only just keep up with. Before long we arrived at what seemed to be a forest lining the edge of the desert. The trees were beautiful and old. It was like a world I had dreamed of living in that I only saw in my mirages. The forest was alive with wildlife. There were birds of all colours and species flying around, filling the forest with song. Even at the speed we were travelling it was hard not to admire the beauty. When I once again looked ahead I saw a massive wall covered in moss. My eyes widened when Kaname didn’t slow down, just before we hit the wall I saw a camouflaged doorway. As we passed through, all light disappeared. Claustrophobia closed in suffocating me until we shot into what seemed to be a living room. As we slid to a stop I saw a group of young men standing in a row in the middle of the room. Most of which, including Kaname, were handsome. There was one tall, thin boy with raven hair and grey eyes sporting a pair of designer glasses. One was an overly tall boy with short, dark hair and a serious expression. The third was a short Lolita boy with big blue eyes and blond hair. Next was another tall boy with violet eyes and blonde hair. And then there was Kaname.

I enquired about the white haired man the glasses wearing boy, whom later introduced himself as Kyouya, said sadly, “He went to find someone that posed a threat to both you and us, the last time we heard from him our conversation was ended by an ambush. I’m sorry, but we fear he is dead.” The information struck me harder than finding out I was adopted and that my parents were dead. I was lead to an empty room in a trance; everything had happened so fast that I hadn’t yet had time to process it all. I let myself slip into a deep sleep, praying for relief from the events of that day.
