Chapter 4: He Has A Girlfriend?
I plopped on my seat. I was so tired, I had stayed up with Zoey until 4 am watching movies and talking. We woke up really late and I didn't have time to put on my contact lenses or to find something cute to wear so I just grabbed a pair of Jeans and a black tank top and I put on my glasses.
I tried my best not to fall asleep, but it turned out to be very difficult since our math teacher was talking about how we shouldn't do drugs or drink alcohol. Our math classes consisted of a 99% of her talking about random stuff and a 1% of actual math.
After that I had chemistry, which was one of the 3 periods I had in common with Connor. The other two were biology and history. He usually got good grades, but he sucked at chemistry. I didn't like chemistry either, but I was surprisingly good at it.
I saw Zoey on the hallway and she gave me thumbs up.
I entered the classroom, it was almost empty. Matt looked up from the book he was reading and smiled.
"What's the story, morning glory? You look tired." I sat next to him. Our chemistry teacher always let us sit with our friends for the first weeks until she decided who would be our partner for the rest of the semester.
"I didn't get enough sleep. And you look like you haven't slept much either. Is it because of the party?"
"Yeah, I think that was the worst party ever. Oliver left after dinner, Liam was fangirling again, Alex was too busy making out with Avery and Connor's girlfriend decided to have a karaoke night with her friends and she sang We're Breaking Free from High School Musical at the top of her lungs and then she puked on the carpet. There were some people on the pool so I decided to go outside but I saw people getting naked and I left."
WHAT? I didn't know he had a girlfriend. I didn't think I stood a chance with him before, but now that I knew he had a girlfriend, there was no way I was going to continue with my plan.
"Hello? Earth to Olivia?" Matt waved his hand in front of my face with an amused smile.
"Oh sorry, you were saying?" He laughed and pointed at our chemistry teacher, Laura.
"Laura is here and she's going to tell us who our new partners are."
Oh no. There was no going back now.
"Okay so, Kyle and Susan, Mary and Blake, Rose and Matt, Olivia and Connor..." There it was. I buried my face on my hands. I knew this was going to happen, Zoey had convinced me to talk to Laura and tell her that as much as I wanted to be Matt's partner (I was going to be paired with him initially) I thought I should be paired up with someone who needed help. There were a few people that needed help, but Connor was by far Laura's worst student. She thanked me because she thought I was always willing to help her, if she only knew I had the worst intentions... She also told me that if Connor started getting better grades, I could keep him as my partner for the next semester.
She finished reading her list and told us to sit next to our partners. Matt looked uncomfortable and I gave him a look of pity, he got paired up with his ex.
I got up and sat next to Connor. He had an unreadable expression on his face.
"Uh, hi." He ignored me and took the paper that Laura had left on our desk.
We had to do a few experiments and write down the results and operate with those results. We had to hand over our paper on Monday.
I started reading the experiments, Connor hadn't said a word since I sat next to him.
What we had to do was really easy, Laura like to call it the "Warm Ups", she also used the "Warm Ups" to see if she made the right choice pairing some people together.
"How's your nose?" At first I didn't know what he meant, then I remembered how a ball hit me on my nose in front of everyone.
"It's fine, it doesn't hurt anymore." I touched the small wound on the tip of my nose. He nodded. There was the uncomfortable silence again, yay!
"Uhm, we should start with the experiments." He looked at the paper and then at me. "You don't expect me to do this by myself, right?" No answer. I took that as a yes.
"I just- I don't know how to start." He blushed, looking rather uncomfortable.
"Let's just do what the paper says and write down the results. We can do the operations later." He nodded, looking embarrassed.

When the bell rang we had managed to finish 2 out of the 10 experiments we had to do. Since the experiments were very simple, he was going to come over on Saturday (which was the next day) and we would finish it then.
The rest of the day was a blur, I was too tired and hungry. I walked like a Zombie to the cafeteria and got myself a big bowl of mac and cheese.
Liam and Oliver were already there so I sat with them, waiting for Matt, Alex and Zoey.
"Hey Liv, do you have an aspirin? I've got a migraine." I shook my head and Liam pouted, leaning his head on my shoulder.
"Are you hangover?" He nodded, his nose tickling my neck.
"I think the punch was spiked." Matt, who had now arrived with Zoey, laughed.
"That wasn't punch." Liam let out a groan and then he hid his face on the crook of my neck. He was acting like a little kid and it was quite amusing.
"Is there something on Liv's neck?" Alex asked, taking a seat next to me.
"My face. And please, stop yelling" Liam whined.
I ate my mac and cheese as fast as I could and I got up, looking for Emma.
"Hey, where are you going? I was comfortable." Liam looked at Oli's shoulder, and he shoved him playfully.
"I'm going to talk to my cousin, I'll be right back."
I saw Emma getting a salad and a plate full of french fries, I know, it's a weird combination.
"Em, I think we have a little problem." I discreetly pointed at Connor.
"What is it?" I followed her to her table. She was with two other girls and I was glad she was making friends.
"He has a girlfriend." She shrugged, eating her french fries first.
"So what? They've been together for a month and I bet they're gonna break up in a few weeks." She seemed so sure about it, but I wasn't, I didn't want to be the reason why they broke up.
"You knew he had a girlfriend?" She nodded. How she got the information was a mystery to me, she was a sophomore, and most sophomores didn't care about seniors.
"Just be his friend, don't flirt with him. And then after they break up you can try to seduce him so you don't feel bad." I'd still feel bad if I made him fall for me because I could never feel the same way about him.
"Okay. I'm gonna go now." I got up and when I turned around I crushed into none other than Connor himself.
