DANIEL POV:

It had been a couple weeks since Rick told me the plan, a couple weeks filled with spending most of the nights at Rositas house - even though I knew I shouldn't. I shouldn't be interacting with anyone who I might actually have feelings for in this group.

Rick said he didn't know exactly when they'd be coming back for more supplies, just that it'd be soon. So instead of knowing when I'd be leaving, I had no clue. I just had to guess every day whether or not I would be back at the Sanctuary that night.

My left arm was still practically useless, the Hilltop doctor saying that he guessed Lucille had done more nerve and tissue damage than they had originally guessed.

I rolled over in the bed that had become about as familiar as the bed I was supposed to be occupying back at Father Gabriel's house, and wrapped an arm around the beautiful woman laying beside me.

"I gotta go. I've got a guard shift with Tara today." I said, smiling slightly as I pressed my lips against her shoulder.

"Have a good day. See you later?" Rosita replied, rolling over to look at me.

The sentence shouldn't be a question. She didn't know that it was actually a question for me on whether or not I would be here tonight. Yet for some reason, her tone was questioning.

"'Course." I said, pressing my lips against hers before getting out of the bed and grabbing my clothes and getting dressed. I left the house and walked up to the gate to find Tara already standing there.

TIME SKIP

It was getting close to the end of my guard shift when they showed up. The Saviors were here. Rick was out looking for supplies so I really wasn't sure how to proceed with what I was supposed to do. I hurried back to Father Gabriel's house, rushing in the door to find him standing in the living room.

"They're here aren't they?" He asked, offering me what appeared to be a sad smile. I nodded and he continued on. "Rick told me what's going to happen, take care of yourself there."

"She's gonna hate me." I said, shaking my head. Father Gabriel was probably one of the only people around Alexandria who knew what was going on between Rosita and I.

"She'll understand eventually." He said, placing his hand on my right shoulder. We stood there for a little while before Tara walked through the front door.

"You need to come out here." She said, walking back out the door. We both followed her out onto the street, seeing Spencer playing against Negan in pool. I also spotted Rosita, who glanced at me with a questioning look as I walked closer to where she was standing.

Before I knew it, Spencer was dead, Rosita had shot at Negan, the bullet had hit Lucille, and Arat had Rosita on the ground. Within a few moments, Olivia was dead, Rick had showed up, and Eugene was being yanked off by a couple Saviors. I had helped Rosita up off the ground and was standing there with an arm wrapped around her.

Negan was about to walk off, when he turned around and looked at me. "Why don't you come home now, Daniel? Instead of playing friends with everyone here, come back where you belong."

I let go of Rosita, "I'm sorry." I mumbled, low enough so only she could hear me. I walked off after Negan.

"You jackass." I heard Rosita say behind me, I shook my head and kept walking behind Negan, Arat following me.
