The rv door swung open quickly, with a screeching noise that was ear peircing. Lori and Carl ran out of the rv, stumbling and hugging Rick. Lori placed a kiss on his jaw, tears falling down her face.
I looked away, minding my own buisness. It wasn't important.
"Now anyone wanna explain to me why Merle isn't standing here right now?!" I yelled angrily, throwing my arms up, and slamming them back down in anger.
"Lana, just-."
"Shut up Daryl! Just tell me!" I snapped, pushing his chest roughly. Daryl stumbled back to steps, recomposing himself. Putting his hand on my back, he tried to calm me, but I was too angry to play nice. I need an explanation.
"Daryl, tell me whats going on!"
"Lana, -."
"I don't want the excuses, prick! I want an answer!" I yelled, tears brimming my eyes.
"He's gone, Lana." Rick said from behind me, standing infront if me so I could meet his sympathetic Georgia blue eyes.
I screwed my eyes shut, balling my fists. I can't lose anymore fo my family.
"Gone where?" My voice broke, my eyes shifting to the ground.
"We don't know, but he cut off his own damn hand, drove off with our truck." Daryl explained,
I scoffed, crossing my arms, giving Daryl a look ; one he knows well.
"That's how he woulda survived it." I chuckled coldly, "Such a Merle thing to do."
"He was doin' meth again?" Daryl spat, disapointed.
"Mhm."
I walked to my tent, leaving unannounced, grabbing my bag, and crossbow, then back to the group.
"I don't care if ya'll aint comin', but I'm outta here, this place isn't safe." I announced, walking towards where the cars were parked.
I sat on my motorbike, looking back at everyone, they were just looking right back at me.
"Guess I'm goin' solo." I huffed, placing my helmet on my head.
"I'll go."
I turned around once again, looking straight back at Rick.
"Dad no!" Carl cried, running to his father.
Lori hushed Carl, tugging him away quietly. I shifted my eyes to Andrea, who was sitting with her dead little sister, crying as she caressed her face infront if the rv. It was sad that we had lost the amount if people we have already lost. This is the first time I noticed the dead bodies of a good amount of our group was killed...
"I'm going." Rick pressed,
I nodded, throwing him my other helmet, and standing up, patting the seat of the bike. He put the helmet on, and sat on the bike, I sat behind him, holding onto his waist firmly.
"Meet us at the CDC, heard there could be a cure." I said, loudly, lookin ahead.
And with that, Rick and I sped away.•
"Rick, there's no one here." I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"No. The camera moved." He muttered,
I rolled my eyes, looking around us. At the end of the street, I could see a herd of walkers, heading our direction. I swung around to Rick, grabbing his arm in panic.
"Walkers. A lot of 'em."
He looked back, shock writen on his face.
"Hey! You're killing us!" He cried, turning back to the camera.
"Rick, we have to go!" I yelled, pulling his arm.
He resisted my pulling, looking at that stupid camera with sadness over his features. He has convinced himself that the camera moved, standing here with him was like watching a stubborn child at a candy store.
"C'mon." He yelled sadly, "You're killing us!"
The walkers got closer, I could feel my body tensing up. I bit my lip, trying to think of an easy escape, if only Tick would just-... Ugh.
"Rick we gotta..-"
The big metal doors of the CDC opened, a bright light beaming from inside. I covered my eyes with my forearm, trying to see.
Rick grabbed my arm, quickly pulling me inside. The door slamming shut fast behind us.
"Hello."
Rick and I pulled out our guns, aiming at a ginger man standing above us in a balcony.
"I'm Jenner, can I get some blood samples in exchange for your stay? Just to see if you've been infected." He said modestly,
"Sure." I replied carelessly, walking up the stairs towards him, Rick close behind.
"Man are you guys gonna like it here." Jenner smirked.•
I ran my fingers through my freshly cleaned hair, staring at thr blank, plain, white wall infront of me. I wonder if the rest of the group showed up. But their most likely spending the night at the camp and coming here tomorrow, It is sometime in the middle of the night. A soft knock bounced off the walls of this damned small room. I blink rapidly, standing up, and walking up to the door.
I slid my small, pale hand against the metal of the knob, hesitating to open it. Another knock. I jump at suprise, slowly opening the door.
"Hey Rick." I said softly, widening the door to talk to his face.
"Got a minute?" He asked,
I bit my lip, looking down at the ground, debating on wether this is a good time or not. I caved, and nodded, opening the door wider for him to enter the room.
I closed the door behind him, sitting on the single bed in my room, he sat beside me.
"Shoot."
I looked into his Georgia blue eyes, finally noticing the gleam they had in them. His eyes were so intense... So, sincere...
He was staring at me, as if he was trying to think of what to say.
"I just wanted to thank you" He he said finally, his voice just above a whisper.
"Carl has told me Lori, has been... Distant. He said sometimes it feel more like you're his mother." He chuckled saying this.
So you tryna say I'm like your wife? Ha. Kidding.
"Even showed me that nice watch you gave him." He smiled whole heartedly, making me smile instantly.
"He also said that she's with Shane an awful amount of time, I was just wondering, do you know anything between them two?"
My heart shattered. This is the type of man I've never encountered. A caring father with a loving heart. I felt as if I was going to cry, just thinking about it. I thought about what I saw in the woods, Lori and Shane.
I don't want to tell him. But he need to know, there's no reason to lie to someone so... Good. I scootched closer to him, putting my small hand on his shoulder blade, the though of me touching him made ny heart race. I caught the breath in my throat, licking my dry lips.
"I saw Lori and Shane yesterday... Doing... 'it' in the woods." I said calmly, trying not to make the news sound so bad on my end.
His eyes diverted to the floor, tears threatening to fall from them. I felt bad. I put my hand on his, a small spark. I gave him a light spymapthetic smile. He grabbed my hand, squeezing it lightly as if to say 'thank you'. A tear falling from his saddened eyes. I wiped the tear, leaving a soft kiss where it fell, and sat farther away from him once again.
"Thank you, Lana."•
