Chapter 13

- Donghan's pov -

I've been attending a lot of clubs in school such as basketball and dance after Yerin left because it always feels empty when I'm at home.

Today, I'm going to the library to meet some friends for a project, it's almost the end of our school year so everyone is worrying about exams. I packed my books and made my way out the house. I decided to walk today, I was too lazy to park the motorcycle.

I stopped at the side of a crosswalk waiting for the car light to the red. When it turned red, we all walked. " STOP! " Someone shouted. A car that was speeding up hit a girl and drove quickly away.

" Call the ambulance! " Someone shouted. I quickly took my phone out and called the emergency number. I moved closer to the body and instantly dropped my phone, " Y-Yerin? " I froze in my position.

" Who is in charge of this patient? " The doctor asked. " Me " I replied. " What is your relationship with her? " He questioned. " I'm her... boyfriend " I lied. " Come inside " The doctor lead me in his office.

" Is she okay doc? " I asked worriedly. " The surgery went well but it's not for sure she will wake up until awhile, she's currently in a coma " He replied.

I stood outside her room, tears fall like a water fall. My only thought was... " Will she remember me? " .

" Mr. Donghan, would you like to come in? " The nurse questioned. I nodded. I went inside and sat down next to her bed, I held her hand tightly. " Wake up... please ".

The door flew open and her mom who was on the wheel chair came in, " Mom " I was shocked to see her in the hospital cloths too. " Is my girl okay? " She cried. " Don't worry, the surgery went well " I stated. " Thank you so much, we owe you a lot " She said.

" Your daughter is someone I can trust, she's a strong girl, she will wake up " I encouraged her. " Did she call you? " She asked me. " No, I was in the scene where she got hurt " I explained.

" Did she stop contacting you? " She questioned. " She probably changed her phone number, I tried calling several times " I answered. " It's my fault, I told her I was sick so she had to rush back from England " Her mom stated.

" No, she probably misses you more, I know she wants to come visit you but it's hard to leave the school " I explained. " Donghan ah, I really really like you, you have a good attitude, a good looking face, a caring person, I just wish Yerin would be with you " She told me. " Yerin has a boyfriend, as long as she's happy, I'm happy " I said back.

" Don't say that, don't go against your heart " She told me. " It's fine, as long as she wakes up... I'm happy " I hugged her. " Donghan ah, did you perhaps ever... downloaded an app in Yerin's phone? " Her mom suddenly brought up.

" Yes, why? " I asked. " It's nothing, I just saw a unfamiliar app on her phone earlier " She replied. " I couldn't access her phone after she moved away though, I thought she might have deleted it " I told her.

At school,

" Donghan ah, I saw you on TV " Seorin said. " You froze when you saw the body, were you scared? " Jiheon asked. " Was she someone you knew? The girl who got hit by the car " Jeno questioned. " Yes, she was a friend who went overseas for school but we lost contact " I answered.

" Class! Get ready for exams " The teacher shouted. We got our tests and started doing it. I kept looking outside the window, usually Yerin would be out there bringing me my lunch, now it's just empty.

I went to the hospital to visit Yerin's mom and Yerin after school.

" She can be discharged today, you may pack your things and we'll see you in the front desk " The doctor told us after going through one more check up. " Congratulations on getting discharged " I said helping her with her bag.

" Donghan ah, you really helped me, why don't I treat you for dinner? " She asked. " I'll pay, let's go " I replied. After paying the hospital bills, we went to a nearby Japanese restaurant for dinner. " What would you like to drink? " The waitress said. " Two hot tea please " I said back.

" What would you like to eat? " She continued. " I'll have one of the sushi set " I ordered. " I'll get the same, thanks " Yerin's mom added. " It will take about 7 minutes, thank you " The waitress told us.

"Donghan, Can I ask you something a bit personal? You don't have to answer if you don't want to" She started. I nodded. "Do you like my daughter?" She brought up. " To be honest, I really don't know... if I look at her as if she's my own sister or not, I thought she was a great person when she first stepped into my house, overtime she talks, I always want to listen... when she laughs, I always end up laughing with her, that's how I feel " I explained.

" Have you ever thought of her as someone more than just your housekeeper? " She questioned. " Actually... I've never though of her as my housekeeper, she was more like a friend from the first day probably because we're the same age. Although there is this one time, my heart started beating like it was somehow gonna stop while I was with her but until today, I don't understand why I felt that way " I answered.

"I'm glad my daughter was working with a honest and caring young man, her previous boss always bullies her and take her money from her bank account, that's why I told her to quit" She revealed.

As we were arriving home from the restaurant, we could see a gang of guys outside their house. " Eomma, wait here " I told her. I walked over to the boys, " Can I help you? Why are you standing in front of my house? " I lied. " Since when does a boy live here? Where is that idiot Yerin and her old mom? " They asked.

" That's non of your business, please leave before I call the police " I warned them. " You're lucky I have another thing to do but I'll be back, wait for me " They said before running away. I went back to the car, " Eomma, get everything important in your house, they will be back, it's better if you stay in my house for the time being " I explained.

We went inside the house, she started packing the important things and some cloths, I went to Yerin's room and packed her cloths when I saw a diary inside her closet, I kept the diary with me and went back in the car.

" Have you lock the doors? " I reminded. "Yes" She responded. I quickly drove to my house and took her to Yerin's room. " You can put your cloths inside the closet, I'll prepare the mattresses " I told her. " It's fine Donghan, I can sleep on the floor " She said. "No, it'll be uncomfortable, you can press this button if you need anything " I told her.

" Thanks, I'll rest well " She said. I went upstairs to carry the mattress down, the stairs were slippery that it caused me to roll down the stairs...
