Levy reached into her bag and took out a large red book.

"Hogwarts: A History." She said with a smile,

"I've been reading it to find out as much as I can about Hogwarts! Did you know that Hogwarts is hidden to muggles, if a muggle looks at it, they will see an old ruin with a sign saying "DANGER, DO NOT ENTER, UNSAFE!?"

She showed it to Lucy, and flipped through a few pages to let the girl read them.

"Wow. That's so cool! Have you finished reading it yet?"

"Oh yes! It's my favourite book at the moment! I can't wait till we go to Hogwarts, but I'll really miss my parents back home, but I'll have you to talk to."

Lucy gave her a small hug.

"I'm really glad I met you Levy! I can't wait to go to Hogwarts together!"

Levy returned the hug smiling. The bookstore employee came over and gave Lucy the books that she would need. She waved goodbye to Levy, and carried the heavy pile of books outside to find Loke. She found him surrounded by a group of witches... she stood for a while, her arms aching from the weight of the textbooks until he finally noticed her.

"Oh, sorry Miss Lucy. And sorry to you ladies too, I'll see you around." He winked at them before heading over to where Lucy was standing and helped her with her books.

They decided to head to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions. Madam Malkin was a smiling, squat witch who was wearing all mauve.

"Hogwarts, dearie?"

Lucy nodded and Madam Malkin lead her to the back of the shop. Loke had told her that he'd wait outside again...

Lucy was told to stand on a footstool. A long black robe was slipped over her head, as Madam Malkin began to pin the right size. There was no one else at the moment so Lucy felt slightly awkward.

"You just missed rush hour. There was a young boy, first year I think, with pink hair who just couldn't stay still! I think I almost saw him breathing fire. Oh dear me... First year dear?"

"Yes" Lucy replied simply, for she didn't really know what else to say.

A while later Madam Malkin stated.

"You're all done dear."

Lucy thanked her and hopped down from the footstool. She exited the shop to find Loke again surrounded by witches, but this time it was a completely different group. She again, awkwardly stood there, until he noticed her, and then together they headed to buy the next supplies.

Lucy next, bought her glass phials, cauldron, telescope and set of brass scales. There was only one thing left to buy. Her wand.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Buying a wand was what Lucy was most excited to do. Though she was also very anxious. They went to a shop called Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC.  Lucy was exploding with nerves. There was a single wand, laying on a dusty purple cushion in the shops window. A tinkling bell rang as they entered and Lucy felt butterflies in her stomach. She was really a witch. She was buying a wand.

"Good afternoon." A soft voice spoke, over the airy, quiet atmosphere. A old man was standing before them, with large pale eyes like the moon.

"Hello..." Lucy quietly whispered.

"I have been expecting you, Miss Lucy Heartfilia... you look just like your mother... it was almost like yesterday she was here buying her first wand. Ten and a half inches long,  flexible, made of pear, producing splendid magical powers."

She smiled. It was nice to think of her mother, being in the same position she was in now.

"It's really a shame what happened...". His moon-like eyes stared right into Lucy. She felt slightly uncomfortable.

"Well now, Miss Heartfilia... which is your wand arm?"

"Um, I'm right handed?"

Mr Ollivander measured Lucy from the shoulder to finger, wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit to around her head.

He explained that every Ollivander wand has a core of a powerful magical substance, either unicorn hair, phoenix tail feathers or heartstrings of dragons. No two Ollivander wands are the same, as no two unicorns, phoenixes, and dragons are the same. You will not get the same good results with another wizards wand.

"That will do, Miss Heartfilia." He dropped the tape measurer to the ground and brought out a wand for her to try.

"Try this one, Cedar, unicorn hair, 9 inches, nice and flexible. Give it a try, wave it around."

Lucy waved it around cautiously, before having the wand snatched away from her by Mr Ollivander.

"Apple, phoenix feather, 9 and 1/2 inches, quite springy, try it."

Lucy again waved it around, before having the wand snatched away from her by Mr Ollivander.

"Maple, unicorn hair, 8 inches, supple." He placed the wand into Lucy's hand.

Lucy slowly waved it around. Yet again it was snatched away by Mr Ollivander.

"A tricky customer, not to worry, we'll find you a wand. Now lets see... maybe..."

He pulled out another wand.

"Pear, unicorn hair, 9 and 1/2 inches, nice and nimble, give it a try."

Lucy was really worried no wand would work for her now. She slowly raised the new wand above her head and waved it. Sparks shot out like shooting stars.

"Bravo! Yes, indeed very good!" Mr Ollivander cheered as Loke clapped.

"Peculiar, made from the same pear tree as the wand of your mother..."

Lucy nodded slowly. She paid Mr Ollivander 7 galleons, and he bowed them out of the shop.

Lucy felt her fingers tighten around her wand as they walked out of Diagon Alley. She and Loke made their way through the back wall and through the Leaky Cauldron. They boarded a train, and very soon, Lucy had parted with Loke and was back inside the Heartfilia estate. Her father didn't acknowledge her return, but Bero had wished her goodnight and had left with a wink.

Soon, Lucy would be headed off to Hogwarts. Soon she would be learning how to be the best witch she could possibly be.

I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter! I was actually thinking of giving Lucy a dragon heartstring core wand, (because of Natsu) but after reading more about wand cores, decided that unicorn would be best suited.

I know that it's an AU and some of you don't like to read AU's, but please give my story a try, I'll be trying to make many references to the canon and many characters will be introduced in the next chapter on the HOGWARTS EXPRESS!

Anyway...

I hope you enjoyed this chapter, I spent a lot of time researching about wands for it : )

See you in the next update! (sorry for the long author notes Dx)
