Kyan wobbly got into the passenger seat. Zyah has his designated driver, since he lost his parents two years ago. "What happened to staying close to me Zyah?" Kyan shouted above the roar of the engine. "I just needed a glass of water Kyan, you weren't even bothering with me!"

He chuckled dryly. You're oblivious to so many things Zyah, you know nothing about what I do or don't pay attention to, because you clearly don't even know how to listen to me if I tell you that you have to stay by my side. Look at what you made me do?"

He was still angry, shaking out of it in fact and Zyah was only making it all worse, but she was already on a roll. "You promised me Ky, you said you wouldn't baby me!" Kyan laughed dryly. "Are you fucking serious? Zyah, those guys back at the party aren't like me, they're not going to sit back and accept friendship just because you said you're not interested in a relationship. Newsflash Captain, they aren't interested in a relationship either, they just want to get in your pants."

His rant was over, and he turned to the window. Zyah had never been at the receiving end of such anger and knowing that it was only because her best friend wanted what was best for her. She had to accept that when Vernon, her older brother made him promise, the day before they left.

Her tears were flowing freely and blurring her eyesight. She was basically focused on how pained she felt instead of driving that she hadn't even noticed that the car had come to a halt and Kyan was yelling at her again.  He's not in the car anymore and he's cradling an injured puppy in his arms. "Zyah, Jesus Christ, get into the fucking passenger seat please!"

She does it slowly and as soon as she's in the passenger seat, he climbs in, gently places the whimpering pup on her lap. It's five minutes that they drive in silence, it's almost eerie.
