Author's note: same setting as last time, but at a 7/11, and like, no homophobia or transphobia. Just fluff my dude. And my goodness for an author I am shit at word choices
Kurt waited nervously, pretending to search through the aisles of the 7/11 for some unknown treasure for the billionth time. Where was he? Did JD just blow him off? (Or up, am I right?) his heart nearly slammed out of his chest when he heard the ding of the shop, and a short teen in a trench coat walked in. Speak of the devil, Kurt thought.
"Greetings and Salutations, Kurt. What flavour of Slurpee are you getting?" JD asked with a huge grin on his face. He seemed overjoyed to have Kurt with him.
"I-I- um...cherry...?" Kurt asked, slightly clueless, and panicked at being put on the spot.
"Good choice. That's my favourite as well." He filled up a large cherry slurpee, handed it to Kurt, then got one for himself.
"I'll pay!" Kurt said quickly. He may have been a sexist and rude jerk, but he wasn't with Ram anymore, he wanted to turn over a new leaf. He had to be a gentleman to his boyfriend.
JD sighed. "Fine, I guess." He rolled his eyes with a smile as he saw Kurt's eagerness. "But I'm paying next time, got it?"
"Yes, sir." He nodded, paying for their slurpees, and walking out, staring awkwardly at JD's hand. Should he hold it??? Was that too soon? Kurt cleared his throat as he watched JD nearly suck the life out of his straw. "How do you do that? Doesn't it hurt?"
No sooner had he said that, JD started to curse. "Yeah, yeah, it does. I do it every time though. It helps."
"Helps with what??? Pain?" Kurt asked, his voice raising an octave or two. What am I getting into? Is he nuts???
The cursing turns into laughter at Kurt's reaction. "I'm pretty prone to headaches, and also, my throat always hurts because I'm constantly speaking in a voice lower than what's normal for my body."
"I-um... what about tylenol or something." Kurt asked, quite concerned about his.... friend? Boyfriend? Date. Date's the term. And right now Kurt believed that JD was a little... messed up. Not severely, but just enough to be cautious.
"Tylenol's for pussies." JD responded while looking out into the distance. "When we have headaches, we die like men."
Kurt cringed at his date's dramatic flair. "Hey um.... I got a place we could go to."
"Really? Where?" The smile that hit Kurt made him nearly melt. He had a great smile. "Any place illegal?"
"Not really. I mean kind of, but not too bad. There's a roof of an elementary school that's super easy to get up on. Wanna go there?" He asked, hoping JD would agree. Relieved at the nod he got in response, he took JD to the school, and helped him up onto the roof. "So. What is it about slurpees? Why not just any ol' slushie?"
"Mom would always get slurpees with me when I was younger. So now... it's a way of keeping her with me. Why did you stick with Ram?" JD asked, desperate for a change in topic. It stumped Kurt a little.
"I um... I'm not quite sure. Our dad's were good friends because Ram and I were friends since kindergarten, but like, when you grow up, you grow apart. I wasn't able to grow apart." Kurt said. "But I'm glad I wasn't. Then I wouldn't have really met you."
"Ew. You're such a sap. But I love it." JD remarked, making a mental effort to not add *and I love you*. Suddenly JD's phone went off. His dad was texting him, saying he wanted him to come home. "Fuck. Dad wants me home."
"Want me to uh, walk you home?" Kurt offered as he helped JD down from the roof. This thought almost aeemed to cause panic to JD.
"No! I-I mean uh, no. No thank you. I can make it myself. I had a great time tonight." He said with a beaming smile before leaning in and kissing his cheek. "We should do this another time. But until then, I'll see you on Monday."
Kurt's hand went to the spot where JD had kissed him, and he just stood there, dumbfounded for what seemed like hours. He was sure now. He was in love with Jason Dean.
