Jared laid in his bed staring at the ceiling. His thoughts were everywhere. He had a new purpose to go into the tournament. He thought about how his parents would react when he tells them he's going to Japan. But when he thought of Alisa, he smiled. He eventually drifted off into a sleep.
"Jared...Jared..." a voice called in the distance.
He woke up laying in a field. Flames surrounded him as they ember the night sky.
"What...what's going on?" He mumbled while standing up.
"Jared...Jared..." The voice called again.
Who the hell is calling me?
The voice called him again, but this time it was closer. He turned around to find Alisa standing there inside the fire with him. She wore a tight white strapless dress that stopped at her knees and white sandals with straps going over the top of her feet
"Jared...save me...please" she wept. She reached out for him.
Jared grabbed her and hugged her. The flames grew wilder.
"What happened here? Alisa, why are you here? How did we get here?" He asked her still holding her.
Alisa said nothing. She cried and cried. Her sobs made the fire intensify. Alisa pulled back and placed a hand on Jared's face.
"I am so sorry..." she said softly as tears rolled down her face.
The flames started to vanish and Alisa began to fade with them.
"No...where are you going?" Jared said trying to grab her, but he couldn't make contact.
He screamed her name as she faded completely. Suddenly he was laying in his bed again. His breathing was labored. He grabbed his phone on the nightstand next to his bed.
8:30am
Tuesday, June 18th
"Was that a dream?... Had to be." He said, rubbing his eyes and stretching.
He sat up in his bed which caused Maxi to jump on his bed and lick his face.
"Good morning boy" Jared said petting him and scratching behind his ears.
Jared walked into the bathroom where he splashed water on his face and stared at his reflection in the mirror. He thought about the dream and what it could possibly mean. He then thought about how tonight is the night he has to catch the plane to head to Japan, and how he still hasn't told his parents. Jared walked downstairs to find Alisa standing in his front room, talking to Tristin. Tristin turned and looked at Jared with anger written all over his face. Oh shit he thought to himself.
"You entered the damn tournament anyway! Are you out of your mind!?" Tristin said approaching Jared.
"I promise, I didn't come to cause problems" Alisa said. "I just wanted to come talk to you about going tonight..."
"You have got to be the dumbest person I know!" Tristin shouted.
"Mom and dad don't know yet, keep your damn voice down, T!" Jared yelled back.
Luisa had overheard and walked in.
"Jared..." She said, looking at him with disappointment.
"You don't understand" Jared said. "I'll admit, at first I entered just for my own selfish reasons. But now I have a new purpose. To avenge Alisa's brother who was killed by the Sphinx Beast King know as Makaio."
"Makaio...just what will you do to him?" A voice said.
It was Rosa. At that moment, her presence caused so much tension that you could cut it with a knife.
"Mom...I was going to tell you and dad but-"
"There is no excuse, Jared." Rosa interrupted. "Makaio was in the tournament back when me and your father participated. He's the reason your father retired, and why I had to forfeit once it was my turn to face him."
"Hold on, dad said the both of you retired." Tristin said. "This Makaio hurt dad?"
Rosa hesitated and nodded slowly.
"It was your father up against Makaio. Your father fought valiantly, but Makaio destroyed your father... after that, your father made me forfeit. Makaio didn't win that tournament, but I'm sure now that he won the last one, he's full of himself. Your father has never mentioned this to you, but your father wears a false left eye and has vicious teeth and claw marks on his back. I imagine that Makaio has only gotten stronger...you can't do this, my son."
Luisa began to tear up.
"That monster! Jared, it's only right that you stay here! Please!" she said, grabbing Jared's hand.
Jared's thoughts were everywhere once again. Learning that Makaio killed Alisa's brother and permanently injured his father, Jared began to second guess himself. But in his heart he knew backing down isn't an option, and he must finish what he's started. And now he has gained another reason to kill Makaio.
"This makes my blood boil. Mom, I have to avenge dad. It's only right."
"I know son...seeing you so passionate about this, I have no choice but to agree with you." Rosa said.
"What!? No, mom you can't be serious! Jared will die!" Tristin said.
"Quiet! Your brother will come back in one piece along with you and Luisa. I've entered you two as well last night."
Tristin and Luisa's faces turned completely white. Tristin complained and Luisa cried and yelled for Kaeneki. But no answer, because Kaeneki was out running errands.
"You three will be fine. I know this because you all will get extensive training." Rosa said.
"From who? You and dad?" Jared asked.
Rosa shook her head.
"When you get to Japan. King Tskune will be there waiting for you."
"King Tskune?" Jared asked.
"Yes. Here, read these." Alisa said, handing Jared info cards.
King Tskune Asayama - The King of Japan who has ruled for over thirty years now following his father, the late King Madara Asayama, the creator of Deathmatch. King Tskune now orchestrates Deathmatch.
"So what am I supposed to say to this guy?" Jared asked.
"Ask him to take you to Mount Hakuchō. There, you three will speak with the three legendary Hakuchō no sato warriors. Hanzo, Natsu and Mai." Rosa said.
Alisa handed more info cards to Jared.
The Hakuchō Legendary Three - Hanzo Akamine, Natsu Shimura and Mai Inukozoku. These three went down in history for stopping Koga Inoichi, the traitor of Hakuchō no sato. Koga almost destroyed Japan as a whole along with the world several years ago, but thanks to the Hakuchō Legendary Three, Koga was sealed away and locked in the outerrealm (a subspace where the irredeemable suffer and rot until their deaths.)
"Those three will further train you." Said Rosa. "Hanzo will be assigned to you Jared. He is a legendary Pyromancer stronger than any I've ever seen. Tristin, Natsu will teach you how to unlock the full potential of being a Terramancer. And my sweet Luisa. Mai will teach you how to battle along side Maxi in complete synchronization. She has a hound of her own."
"Wait, what!? Maxi has to enter the tournament too!? What is a dog going to do, mom!?" Luisa said as Maxi whined and whimpered.
Alisa now handed Luisa two info cards.
Companion Type - Companion Types are people who battle in complete and total synchronization with animals or another human being. Classes belonging to this type is Battle Cat, Battle Hound, Battle Bird, Battle Reptile, Battle Amphibian, Battle Mammal and lastly Battle Being.
Secondary Types and Secondary Classes - As known, every Power Warrior belongs to a Type and Class. However, in rare occasions a Power Fighter have Two Types and Two Classes. But this is not naturally instilled in them like their primary Type and Class is. Secondary Types and Secondary Classes have to be taught through extensive training. Once a warrior knows how combine both powers together, they became a force to be reckoned with.
"Luisa, you will learn how to battle with Maxi while channeling your abilities as Pyromancer." Said Rosa.
"Great, of course I have the most difficult task!" Luisa cried.
"Your mother is making no mistake." Alisa said. "You three will be undergoing training by three of the best Power Warriors in the world. You all are lucky enough to have the same exact Type and Class as they do. A lot of us aren't that fortunate."
"Alisa..I've had my suspicion about Jared entering. I knew he would, so that's why I entered Tristin and Luisa. I am confident that you will keep a reign on them in my absence...can I trust you?" Rosa said.
Alisa nodded her head and assured Rosa that she would watch them closely.
"As for your father, I will mention nothing. He will notice once he comes back home. I can't risk you guys leaving on the plane tonight, you must leave now." Said Rosa.
Luisa began to cry even more.
"Mom, we aren't ready!" she yelled.
Rosa kissed Luisa softly on the forehead.
"Be strong, Luisana."
Rosa gave everyone a sack full of items.
"There's different types of items on these sacks. Use them wisely and precisely. Now follow me."
Rosa led everyone to the basement, where she took a book off of the shelf.
"I will transport you to Japan by using a very sacred technique that is only known by my mother's maiden family, The Villanueva Family. This technique is called "Telepuerto Mundial", meaning "World Teleport." This takes an incredible amount of energy from whoever uses it and only the women of the Villanueva family can perform this." Rosa said flipping through the book.
She then started speaking a chant in spanish, repeating the words
"El viento sopla, las almas se mueven, la luz transporta."
Suddenly the room started to become bright with rays of light and wind blew throughout the room. Beams of light haloed Jared, Tristin, Luisa, Alisa and Maxi.
"Remember all that I have told you. Come back home to me. I love you." Rosa said as they all began to fade away into the light.
Mom...thank you.
