Chapter Twenty-Two

JACK'S POV:

I just flew.

I didn't really know or care where I was going. My eyelids fluttered shut as the wind whipped at my ears and blew my hair back.

For a moment, it almost felt ok. It was like Elsa was in my arms, and Pippa was watching from the ground, laughing. Suddenly, my arms grew heavy as pressure was placed on them. My eyes shot open.

I looked down. There, laying in my arms was Elsa. She had a smile on her face and her eyes were closed.

"Elsa!", I exclaimed happily, twirling her around in a hug. Elsa made no movement; she was almost like a doll.

"Elsa......?", I said worriedly, shaking her. Her eyes were gazed over, and that was when I noticed the black strip of hair on her head. The black color spread through her platinum blonde hair, and soon it was all dark.

Her eyes were gold.

I could feel his presence. Pitch was here.

"What have you done?", I screamed out.

"Why, what makes you think I did something?", he replied, suddenly appearing from the shadows of a large tree.

"You know what you did? What is wrong with her?!?", I screamed. I would lunge at him, but Elsa was still in my arms.

Pitch laughed evilly. "The show isn't even over yet." Suddenly, the piercing cry of a child broke through my head.

"DADDY!! HELP ME!!"

"PIPPA!", I shouted, speeding towards the ground. My feet slammed against the ground and I set Elsa down, racing towards my daughter and embracing her.

"Oh Pippa, oh please, I missed-", that was when I felt it. The strange feeling of my shirt growing heavier. I pulled away from Pippa.

My shirt was covered in red. I looked up in horror, only to find Pippa, lying on the ground in a puddle of blood next to Elsa.

"NO!!!", I shouted out in agony. Suddenly, Elsa and Pippa's eyes snapped open, revealing gold orbs that were glassy.

"Oh Jack, how tragic", they both said in unison, "if only you could help us. Sadly, you cannot prevent the future."

Then, they slowly melted away, until they were nothing but shadows of the horrendous scene I had just taken a part of.

I returned to the castle around midnight. Everyone was already loading up, considering we had no time to lose.

I walked shakily over to the sleigh and slid in. I couldn't ride the dragon that Elsa had been taken from.

"You alright there, mate?", Bunny asked. I nodded slowly.

"Off we are then", North said, and we all launched into the sky, dragons and all.

"You sure you're ok?", Tooth asked me, placing a hand on my arm. I flinched.

"Yeah", I said.

But really, I don't think I'll ever be the same again.

ELSA'S POV:

I woke up to a piercing cry in the middle of the night. My head immediately left the pillow and I shot up, already walking towards that door. Another cry.

I knew who that voice belonged to, and my body filled with dread.

Pippa.

"PIPPA!!! I'M COMING PIPPA!!", I screamed at the top of my lungs. I shot ice at the door, snow, I even made a small storm; but nothing worked.

"You're powers are completely useless in this room", a voice says from across the room. My head snapped towards the direction if the voice and I see the LAST person I want to see right now.

"Dark Jack", I sneer. Shooting another ice ball at the door, it rebounds and I sigh in frustration. Unexpectedly, there is a terrible pain in my temple, making me gasp and fall to my knees. It slowly spreads throughout my head, and I cry out. My vision becomes blurry; my breathing ragged.

Then, it was like somebody gave me the antidote. The pain suddenly went away, and I stood up shakily. Looking in the window, I nearly screamed at the sight.

A portion of my hair was pitch black.

"Ahh, I see", Dark Jack sneers, "the poison is taking it's toll on your body."

I don't know if you read this book or not, but I heard you were having some trouble with yourself. A birdy told me you were self-harming, and I'm here to tell you to stop. There are people who love you, and who want you to have a long, happy life! Trust me, I know how hard it can be, but you have to keep going and don't give up! You're worth it!
