Lucifer moaned as he regained consciousness. His throat hurt awfully, and upon seeing a small vacuum by the bed, he figured Ariel had pumped his stomach. A sudden flash of pain surged through his face. He clenched his teeth.
"Wake up." Ariel set down the holy water.
"What do you want?" This was the first time he implied it as a question. It was so hard for him to act human, but he was weak, and he let his guard down.
"What the Hell do YOU want!? You tried eating me! What the fuck are you doing here, really!"
"I told you!"
"You lied!"
"I did not!"
"Prove it!"
"Look into my eyes." He said quietly. "Look into my eyes and tell me if I'm lying."
"I wouldn't be able to tell if you were lying or not anyways. Eyes are the gateway to the Soul, and you don't have one. That's one of the many things you don't have."
"You're right, I have nothing right now. My own creations threw me out of my home, just as my brother did. They're hunting me, now. I'm weak. I can't create the smallest living organism. I never in a million years wanted to interact with you in the slightest. Frankly, Mortals are disgusting, and I hate every single one of you, but the fact that I'm here now, telling you all of this has to mean something. I don't care that you don't trust me. I don't trust you either, but you have to understand if I try running without my power they will find me and they will kill me."
"That doesn't constitute trying to eat me."
"I wasn't eating you, specifically. I was trying to get to your soul."
"Of course you were."
Lucifer watched her pick up the bottle of holy water, shifting in his seat.
"Souls contain unimaginable power. A single one would make me just strong enough to regain my power and defeat Leviathan and Mammon and all others who step in my way."
"Why the Hell would I want Satan walking around?! You'd be like a walking nuclear reactor!"
"I wouldn't stay on Earth! I hate it here. I would go back to Hell, where I belong, and regain control. If you don't help me, Ariel, your entire world would be as if a hundred nuclear bombs went off at once."
"And what would you be at full power?"
"Thirty."
"Thirty what?"
Lucifer licked his lips, not wanting to tell her. "... Hypernovas."
Ariel's eyes widened, her mouth parting.
"Excuse me, I didn't quite catch that." She spurted.
"My power equals that of about thirty hypernovas."
In a fit of rage, Ariel forced the bottle of holy water into his mouth and poured it in. He tried to gasp, but she slammed his mouth shut. His black blood leaking out of the corner of his mouth, his eyes flickering to Liam's, then back to their dark red. Ariel quickly released his jaw, letting him spew the water, which was now a dark grey, all over himself. Bloody covered his mouth and teeth and it was spreading all throughout his white shirt. HIs head bobbed down and his body shook.
"Okay, so I believe you on the whole weak thing..." Ariel scuffed the floor with her feet and undid his restraints. She broke the trap and salt line and pulled him out of the chair. "Come on."
She let him go and he immediately collapsed onto the ground, groaning in pain.
Ariel grabbed his arm and pulled him up, dropping him onto the bed.
He passed out instantly. Ariel pulled the covers over him and turned off the light. They were both worn out, so she decided to get some sleep as well.
~~~
When she awoke, Lucifer was nowhere in sight.
"Hello? Lucifer?"
Her door was open. "Lucifer?' She whispered into the hallway. She walked out and headed to Liam's dorm. It was open.
"Lucifer what are you-" Something that looked awfully like Lucifer's blood was pooling on the floor. She pushed the door open and gasped. Lucifer stood over something. A big lump of dark fur. Lucifer was indeed bleeding, but the main source was the demonic beast thing on the floor.
The floorboards creaked under Ariel's feet, and Lucifer's eyes found the sound. They were darker than she had ever seen them, and so much anger was filling his entire body she could practically feel it beaming off of him. He quickly made out Ariel's figure and his face fell soft. "Don't come in here," he whispered, "not safe." As the words left his lips, the beast snagged onto Lucifer's leg and, with a swipe of his arm, the door slammed closed.
It was total silence for what seemed like an hour, but only lasted twenty minutes. Lucifer opened the door slowly, stumbling out of the room before collapsing onto the floor, holding his left arm at a ninety degree angle so it didn't hit the ground. Ariel could see the bone protruding from his skin.
Ariel gently rolled him onto his back, he tried to help as much as he could, but it wasn't much. "What the Hell just happened?"
He shook his head tiredly. Ariel did a once over of his wounds. His femeral artery was ripped open, along with much of his stomach and chest. His cheek and neck had claw lines that would surely scar. Then there was the broken arm and, from what she could tell, broken ribs.
When her eyes returned to his face, his eyes were closed. His breathing was becoming more relaxed, but her was still trying to catch it.
"Hey," she said, tapping his cheek gently. "Don't you leave me." His eyes opened slowly. His breath hitched, then relaxed right back. "We're gonna get you back to the room, okay?" He nodded slightly.
It took more strength than she had to get him back to the room. Her clothes were now black, previously being white. She sat him on the bed. "Now don't take this the wrong way, but we need to take off your clothes."
He looked up at her, not getting how he could in any way take that incorrectly.
Ariel immediately went to unbutton his shirt, accidentally coming in contact with his injuries and getting a half-growl half-moan response. "Sorry." She treaded carefully, making sure to do it as slowly as possible. She carefully slid the shirt off over his broken arm. The fabric brushed against the exposed bone and flesh, working a loud gasp out of him. He started to fall back, but she caught him and sat him up straight again. "It's okay."
She worked off his belt and quickly realised that the fabric of his pants was sticking to the blood around the artery. She warned him that it would hurt, but that didn't stop him from practically screaming and passing out when she pulled it off.
He sat on the bed in his boxers while Ariel grabbed a washcloth and a bowl of water. He wondered how it came to this, physically needing a human to save him. His body was practically shaking with chilling pain once she had wiped all the blood away and placed bandages over the wounds. Now the only thing left to do was to set his arm.
The second her hands positioned themselves on either side of the injury, his entire body tensed. "One.....Two.......Three!" The bone snapped violently into place, ripping a loud yell from Lucifer's wrecked body. His heart was racing, and his breath was laboured. He hunched over, his face buried in Ariel's stomach. She wrapped his arm tightly and laid him on the bed, pulling the blankets over him.
"You need to rest."
"I can't," he whispered, "the Hellhound-"
"I'll line the room with salt. It'll be fine."
He looked skeptical, but quickly fell under once he closed his eyes. Ariel did what she said and went to bed herself, more tired than before. She was sleeping next to Satan, and she wasn't even scared. Maybe she'd even made a friend.
God is gonna be pissed.
